Contradictory Reports Emerge in Panna Land Dispute

In the Janakpur area of Panna district, a stark contradiction has surfaced between the Revenue Department's reports and high-level directives concerning an alleged illegal colony constructed on government land. This situation has cast doubt on administrative transparency and the legality of land deeds.

Initial Declaration and Countermanding Order

The issue began on December 14, 2022, when the then Collector of Panna declared land parcels 77, 77/1, and 77/2 in Janakpur as government property, based on an investigation report from the revenue staff. Simultaneously, a case was filed against a person named Abdul Salim for alleged illegal construction on this land.

However, in March 2023, the then Divisional Commissioner of Sagar allegedly overturned the Collector's order, purportedly based on oral submissions and fabricated evidence. This decision further complicated the matter.

Further Investigation and Unanswered Questions

Subsequently, a reinvestigation conducted by SDM Ashok Awasthi on November 23, 2023, found the land allocation from 1955-56 to be in violation of rules. This report also indicated the land should be declared government property. Despite this, the Revenue Board has not granted permission for a review, raising questions about the investigative process.

Fraud Charges Added to Investigation

Significantly, during the police investigation, charges of cheating and forgery under sections 420, 467, 470, and 471 were added against the accused, Abdul Salim. It has been clarified that adding these sections does not prove the accused's guilt but is part of the ongoing investigation.

The central question now is on what concrete grounds were the high-level orders passed when various levels of investigations have deemed the land as government property? The applicant has now demanded an impartial and thorough review of all relevant revenue records and orders.

Call for Transparency and Public Trust

For complete clarity in the case, an examination of the original documents and the judicial process is essential to maintain public trust in the administration's functioning.
