ATM Swapping Fraud Gang Busted, Two Arrested

Guna Police has successfully busted an ATM card swapping fraud gang, arresting two accused individuals and recovering ₹24,000 in cash. This operation is part of the police's ongoing crackdown on cybercrimes.

Complaint Leads to Investigation

The case came to light when Kalyan Singh Ahirwar, a resident of village Khutiyavad, filed a complaint at the Kotwali police station. He reported that on May 04, 2026, while attempting to generate his PIN at the Punjab National Bank ATM near the Gurudwara, two unknown individuals befriended him and swapped his ATM card under the guise of offering assistance.

Fraudulent Withdrawal and Case Registration

Subsequently, Ahirwar received an SMS notification of a ₹36,000 deduction from his account. Following this, he promptly registered a report with the police. The police registered a case against the unknown accused under Section 318(4) BNS of the Indian Penal Code and commenced their investigation.

Technical Evidence Uncovers Deeper Conspiracy

Given the gravity of the incident, the police team meticulously analyzed the technical evidence related to the fraud. The investigation revealed that the conspiracy involved not just two, but three perpetrators. After confirming the identities of the accused, the police intensified their search and eventually succeeded in apprehending Nishant s/o Narendra Rawat and Shivam s/o Ramsingh Yadav, both residents of Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Cash Recovery and Ongoing Search for Third Accomplice

A sum of ₹24,000, part of the fraudulently withdrawn amount, has been recovered from the arrested individuals. The police are currently searching for the third absconding member of the gang, identified as Ravi Rajput. An intensive inquiry is also underway to determine if these accused have committed similar offenses in Guna or elsewhere.

The successful operation involved commendable efforts from Kotwali Station House Officer Inspector Rajkumar Sharma, Sub-Inspector Satish Sarvaiya, Assistant Sub-Inspector Vishveer Raghuwanshi, and constables Neeraj, Raju, and Navdeep. The police are diligently working to gather information on other potential members associated with this gang.
