Bhopal Begins Passenger Trial for 10 New E-Buses with Modern Amenities

Passenger Trial Launched for 10 New Electric Buses in Bhopal

Bhopal took a significant step towards making public transport more environmentally friendly and modern on its streets. A 5-day passenger trial run for 10 new electric buses has commenced. These buses are currently operating on three of the city's busiest routes to facilitate passenger convenience.

Modern Features for Passenger Safety and Comfort

These new e-buses are equipped with several modern amenities, prioritizing passenger safety and comfort. Notably, they feature hydraulic doors and dedicated wheelchair spaces for persons with disabilities, ensuring a smoother travel experience. All buses are fully air-conditioned (AC) and fitted with CCTV cameras for enhanced security.

Additional safety features include panic buttons for emergencies and GPS systems for real-time bus tracking. The ticketing process has also been digitized, offering payment options via smart cards and UPI QR codes.

Trial Operations on Three Key Routes

In this initial phase, the trial operation of these 10 electric buses is being conducted on three crucial routes. The first route connects Chirayu Hospital to DB Mall Metro Station. The second route runs from Sant Hirdaram Nagar (Bairagarh) to Misrod, while the third route operates between Karond Chauraha and AIIMS Bhopal.

During these trial periods, detailed feedback is being collected from passengers regarding the bus services, timetables, and other facilities. This feedback will be instrumental in finalizing the buses' ultimate timetable and operational plan.

Goal of Environmental Protection and Improved Connectivity

This initiative of electric buses aims to promote zero-emission transport in Bhopal, contributing to the reduction of air and noise pollution in the city. Bhopal City Link Limited (BCLL) has an ambitious plan to gradually integrate a total of 100 new e-buses into its fleet in the future.

This development will also significantly aid in providing better last-mile connectivity to key stations of the Bhopal Metro, offering passengers an integrated transportation system experience.
