Cleanliness Drive Ahead of Diwali
The Cliff News | Gwalior | November 5, 2026 -- In an effort to promote cleanliness on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Madhav College, Gwalior, has undertaken a public awareness campaign across the city. College volunteers actively participated in this initiative by pasting stickers with cleanliness messages at various public places and markets, aiming to inspire citizens.
The primary objective of this campaign is to encourage people to maintain cleanliness not only in their homes but also in the surrounding public spaces during the festive period. Dr. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Principal of Madhav College, highlighted the significance of this campaign, stating, "While people undertake thorough cleaning of their homes during Diwali, it is crucial that they also improve their habits of littering in public areas." He urged citizens to segregate wet and dry waste and ensure its proper disposal in the municipal corporation's garbage collection vehicles.
Promoting Civic Responsibility
According to the Principal, such responsible behaviour will significantly contribute to maintaining a clean and healthy environment for the entire city. The NSS volunteers went beyond merely sticking posters; they also motivated people to utilize the municipal corporation's garbage collection vehicles effectively.
This campaign was led by District Organizer Dr. Manoj Awasthi, Senior Program Officer Dr. Sanjay Kumar Pandey, and Program Officer Dr. Sarita Dixit. Several college faculty members, including Dr. Vijay Pandey, Dr. Vikas Shukla, and Dr. Lal Ji, were also present. Among the actively participating volunteers were Devashish Sharma, Raj Rathore, Tanishka Suryavanshi, Dilip Chauhan, Nakul Sharma, Shivam Godyale, and Ashutosh Paliwal.
