Gwalior Makes History with 5,000 Tree Plantation, Gurukul University to be Established

Record-Breaking Plantation Drives History in Gwalior

The city of Gwalior created unprecedented history on Saturday under the 'One Tree, One Life' mega campaign. Over five thousand saplings were planted on 55 bighas of land within just two hours on the premises of Rishi Galav University, established by the Madhya Bharat Education Society.

This grand tree plantation 'Mahayagya' saw enthusiastic participation from workers of educational, administrative, religious, governmental, and esteemed social service organizations from the city, reaffirming their commitment to nature. The event, dedicated to nature and its sons, was held during the first week of the Shravan month.

The plantation festival, which began at 8:30 AM, concluded at 10:30 AM with the successful planting of 5,000 saplings in an atmosphere filled with enthusiasm, joy, and vibrant emotions. Significant support for this grand event was received from various organizations and individuals.

Prominent Figures Attend Plantation Drive

The plantation was conducted in the presence of Padmashree Baba Sewa Singh Ji, Baba Lakha Singh Ji, and Baba Gurpreet Singh Ji, with the support of Shri Gurudwara Data Bandi Chhod Fort, Gwalior. This collective commitment to environmental protection saw the participation of many distinguished individuals.

Notable attendees included Swami Samarth Tirth Maharaj, Swami Abhay Katyayan, Dr. Yogesh Upadhyay of ITM University, BJP President Jaiprakash Rajoria, former MLA Ghanshyam Pironia, Swami Ajaykant, Rajesh Shukla, Deputy Advocate General Vivek Khedkar, Principal Harish Agarwal, Mrs. Sandhya Srivastava, former Chairman Vrijendra Singh Jadon, Environment Head Shivsevak, Divisional Sangh Chalak Prahlad Sabnani, Munendra Singh, Omveer Singh, Dr. Rajiv Mishra, Mrs. Usha Girraj, Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Tomar, Leader of Opposition Haripal, Sanjeev Goyal, Sudarshan Gupta, Tarun Mittal, and Jagdish Arora.

Professors, teachers, and employees from the second, third, and fourth categories of the nine educational institutions run by the Madhya Bharat Education Society, along with students from NSS, NCC, Sports, Personality Development, and Cultural Committees, also actively participated in this noble cause. Environmentalists Sandeep Maurya and Dinesh Mishra also provided their invaluable support to this event.

Rishi Galav University to Embrace Gurukul Pedagogy

This plantation was more than just a celebration; it was a significant step towards developing Rishi Galav University into an institution deeply rooted in the Gurukul system and environmental consciousness. The university has made special arrangements for the care of the planted saplings.

Trees of various species such as Jamun, Mango, Banyan, Peepal, Arjuna, Guava, Kaner, Amla, Palm, Belpatra, Neem, and Chinese Champa have been planted in a specific order. This arrangement aims not only to enhance students' botanical knowledge but also to impart practical lessons on social balance and harmony with nature.

In a unique initiative to make this event successful, the university has also established a 'Tree Guardian Department', similar to academic departments, for the year-round care of the trees. This department will be responsible for the conservation and development of these young saplings.

This unforgettable initiative by Rishi Galav University, termed 'Vriksh Utsav-2026', is possibly the first such event in Gwalior where a significant number of individuals from education, religion, governance, and administration participated in such a large-scale plantation within a mere two hours.

Significant Support and Future Aspirations

The 'Vriksh Utsav-2026' program received substantial support from various sources. The Gurudwara Data Bandi Chhod contributed 2500 saplings, while the Municipal Corporation provided 3000 saplings, water tankers, and manure. The Agricultural University supplied 700 kg of vermicompost. Additionally, contributions from other citizens and organizations played a vital role in making this event a success.

Dr. Rajendra Bandil, President of the Madhya Bharat Education Society, expressed gratitude to everyone for their immense support and for enthusiastically fulfilling the resolve to plant over 5,000 trees in two hours. He expressed confidence that next year, with Gwalior's cooperation, a new record will be set by planting millions of trees.

This event is not only a symbol of environmental awareness but also a strong step towards making Gwalior a greener and more prosperous city.
