Food Safety Department Cracks Down on Sweet Establishments

The Food Safety and Drug Administration Department in Balrampur has taken a firm stance against sweet establishments operating in the district, prioritizing public health. Acting on the strict directives of District Magistrate Dr. Vipin Kumar Jain, a joint team from the Food Safety Department and the State Mobile Squad conducted surprise inspections.

The inspection targeted three prominent sweet manufacturing units: Amar Sweets & Restaurant, Bikaner Sweets, and Om Sweets & Bakers. The joint team thoroughly examined the sanitation conditions, food storage and handling practices, and compliance with food safety standards within these units.

Notices Issued for Non-Compliance

During the investigation, authorities found that several units did not meet the expected standards, prompting the department to take decisive action. Citing provisions of Section 32 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, the Food Safety Department is recommending the issuance of improvement notices to all three establishments.

Officials emphasized that adherence to hygiene and quality regulations is mandatory for all food businesses. These notices will instruct the establishments to rectify the identified shortcomings within a stipulated timeframe.

Samples Sent for Laboratory Testing

To ascertain quality, the inspection team collected various food items, including kunda, paneer, and khoya. These samples have been dispatched to the laboratory for testing as per the prescribed procedures.

Further action, in accordance with the rules, will be determined once the investigation report from the team led by Chief Food Safety Officer Arun Kumar Shukla is received. The administration has conveyed a clear message that there will be no compromise on public health and food safety at any level.

Future inspections and enforcement campaigns of this nature will continue to ensure that all food products sold in the market meet health standards and consumers are not exposed to any health risks. The department aims to hold food businesses accountable and provide citizens with adulteration-free and safe food supplies.
