Strict Measures Against Crop Residue Burning in Guna
The Guna district administration is taking stringent steps to prevent the burning of maize, stubble, and crop residue, as per the directives of Collector Kishore Kumar Kanyal. The district administration is actively educating farmers to refrain from burning crop residues in their fields.
Joint Awareness Initiative in Magroda Village
As part of these efforts, a joint team from the Revenue and Agriculture departments organized a special 'chaupal' (village gathering) in Magroda village, Bha Mori development block. Senior officials, including Sub-Divisional Magistrate Revenue Shivani Pathak, Janpad CEO Pushpendra Vyas, Tehsildar Devdatt Golia, and Nayab Tehsildar Jaiprakash Gautam, participated in this awareness initiative. Key officials from the Agriculture Department were also present.
Promoting Sustainable Stubble Management
During the meeting, farmers received detailed information on the benefits of the Straw Management System (SMS) and the use of combine harvesters. Officials explained that equipment like SMS or cutter attachments chop crop residues into small pieces and evenly distribute them across the field. This allows for the sowing of the next crop without resorting to burning.
Benefits of Crop Residue Management and Organic Farming
Emphasis was also placed on the advantages of crop residue management and alternatives, encouraging farmers to adopt organic farming and utilize fertilizers judiciously. The primary objective of the 'chaupal' was to educate farmers that burning crop residue is not only detrimental to the environment but also diminishes soil fertility.
Zero Tolerance for Stubble Burning; Strict Action Ensured
The administration has made it clear that crop residue burning is completely prohibited in the district. Farmers found violating the order will face strict action. A 'panchnama' (on-the-spot report) will be prepared, and a fine will be imposed on such farmers.
FIRs to be Lodged for Violations
Furthermore, directives have been issued to lodge First Information Reports (FIRs) against farmers who disregard the prohibitory orders. The administration firmly believes that proper management of modern agricultural machinery will help protect the environment and preserve soil fertility.
Appeal for Adoption of Scientific Agricultural Practices
The department urges all farmers to adopt alternative and scientific agricultural practices instead of burning, thereby avoiding legal action and contributing to environmental conservation. This initiative underscores the administration's commitment to a sustainable and healthy agricultural ecosystem in Guna district.
