Eco-Conscious Ganesh Festival Inaugurated in Guna Municipality
Guna Municipality, on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Utsav on September 15, 2026, has installed a statue of Lord Shri Ganesh with due religious ceremony. Through this religious event, the municipality administration has conveyed a significant message to citizens regarding environmental conservation and the cessation of using substandard plastic.
The Ganesh idol was installed in the premises of the Shiv Temple in the presence of Municipal President Savita Arvind Gupta, Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) Shailesh Awasthi, Councilor Raju Ojha, and other dignitaries. CMO Shailesh Awasthi issued clear directives that the use of plastic in pandals during the festival will be strictly prohibited. Only paper bowls will be used for the distribution of Prasad.
Eco-Friendly Celebrations and Plastic Crackdown
The Municipality administration has urged citizens to decorate eco-friendly tableaux and refrain from using plastic. The municipality is continuously monitoring the purchase and sale of substandard plastic and is taking punitive action against violators of the rules. Residents have been appealed to adopt biodegradable plastic to make the city clean and green.
'School of Cleanliness' Educates Students on Waste Management
As part of this environmental awareness campaign, Siddhivinayak Waste Management, an allied organization of the municipality, organized a 'School of Cleanliness' at Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Purani Chhavni. Students were educated on the importance of segregating wet and dry waste under the Solid Waste Management Rules 2026.
They were also encouraged to adopt the 4-bin system. Students were given the message of installing eco-friendly idols with the aim of protecting water sources from pollution. At the end of the program, all students took a pledge to keep the city clean and adhere to cleanliness rules. This initiative is considered a significant step towards making Guna clean and green, which will be possible only with public participation.
