GRP Itarsi Rescues Mother and Children Under 'Operation Humdardi'

The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Itarsi has once again showcased its sensitivity and promptness by safely returning a mentally unwell woman and her two young children to their anxious family. This incident came to light on September 20, 2026, when the woman, a resident of Damoh, left her home with her children without informing anyone and was traveling on the Gorakhpur Express.

The situation was highly sensitive as the woman was carrying gold jewelry valued at approximately four lakh rupees. Under the guidance of Railway Superintendent of Police Ankit Jaiswal and led by Station House Officer Sanjay Chouksey, three special teams were formed for this rescue operation. Despite heavy rainfall and dense darkness, the police initiated a search for the woman and children by conducting a thorough analysis of CCTV footage and utilizing other technical means.

After nearly five hours of relentless effort, the police team successfully located the woman and her children near Itarsi Chaupati. The successful implementation of 'Operation Humdardi', a campaign run by GRP Itarsi, not only averted a potential tragedy but also proved that this operation serves as a beacon of hope for individuals who have lost their way in society.

Jewelry Secured, Family Reunited

Upon receiving the news of the safe recovery of the woman and children, their family members were overwhelmed with tears of joy. The police also recovered the gold jewelry worth four lakh rupees that the woman had with her. After completing the necessary formalities at the GRP Police Station Itarsi, the woman and children were handed over to their family members.

The swift, humane, and successful action by the police is being widely praised by the local community. The Superintendent of Police has announced a reward for the entire team involved in the rescue operation, which will boost the morale of the police personnel and provide inspiration to handle similar incidents in the future.
