Mineral Department Cracks Down on Illegal Transport in Bhind

In a stringent campaign against illegal mineral extraction, transportation, and storage in the Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh, the Mineral Department has seized a total of 11 vehicles over the past four days. The operation, conducted under the directives of Collector Kirodi Lal Meena and the guidance of Mineral Branch In-charge Pankaj Dhwaj Mishra, marks a significant success for the department.

The seizures have sent ripples of alarm through those involved in the illegal mineral trade. On September 12, 2026, a patrol team intercepted two vehicles near the Phup toll plaza, which were subsequently handed over to the custody of the Phup police station.

Overloading and Illegal Haul Addressed

The following day, September 13, 2026, saw six vehicles impounded for overloading on the ITI Road, Bhind. These vehicles were securely parked at the New Tehsil premises. The drive specifically targeted the practice of carrying excess load, which not only violates regulations but also compromises road safety and quality.

The crackdown continued through the nights of September 14 and 15, with a team of mineral inspectors apprehending nine more vehicles for illegal transportation. These vehicles have been impounded at the Dehat Kotwali police station and the Agriculture Produce Market, Phup. The actions aim to curb the illegal transport of various mineral materials, which also results in a loss of government revenue.

Targeting Sensitive Areas for Illegal Activities

The Mineral Department had been maintaining a close watch on illicit activities, particularly in sensitive areas around Phup and Bhind city. On September 12, two vehicles were caught transporting minerals illegally near the Phup toll plaza. The subsequent day, six dumpers were seized for overloading on ITI Road, Bhind.

These overloaded vehicles were not only flouting government rules but also posed a significant risk to public safety. Raids conducted until midnight on September 14 and 15 resulted in the apprehension of nine additional vehicles engaged in the illegal transport of mineral materials. This sustained pressure signals to the illegal mining mafia that the department is resolute in its enforcement.

Legal Action Under Mineral Rules 2022

All seized vehicles are currently held at various police stations and markets pending further action. Mineral Department officials have confirmed that strict legal proceedings will be initiated against all 11 impounded vehicles under the Madhya Pradesh Mineral Illegal Mining, Transport, Storage and Trade Rules, 2022. These rules are designed to curb illegal activities and safeguard government revenue.

Each case will undergo a thorough investigation, with a detailed report to be submitted to the Collector's Court for further decisions. The Collector's Court will deliver the final verdict, which may include penalties, vehicle confiscation, or other regulatory actions, ensuring that perpetrators of illegal mining and transport face consequences and preventing future occurrences.

Mafia in Disarray Amidst Enforcement Drive

The consistent and effective actions by the Mineral Department have caused widespread panic among the illegal mineral transport mafia operating in the district. Their hopes for uninterrupted illegal operations have been dashed. The department has pledged to maintain strict surveillance on illegal mining activities across district borders and sensitive zones through intelligence gathering and surprise inspections.

This initiative is crucial not only for protecting government revenue but also for promoting environmental conservation and the sustainable use of local resources. The department also urges the public to report any suspicious illegal activities to aid in swift action.
