Balrampur: Dilapidated Poles, Hanging Wires Spark Fear Among Villagers

Electrical Hazard in Harirhnagar Village

Electrical mismanagement in the Harirhnagar village of Balrampur district's Maharajganj Tarei region has created a severe safety crisis for local residents. The village's electrical wires hang precariously from dilapidated wooden poles instead of concrete ones, raising the constant risk of a major accident.

This situation is a gross violation of electrical safety standards and forces villagers to live under the shadow of fear. Villagers have expressed deep anger over this negligence. Residents including Abdullah, Salim, Naseem, Rizwan, Ramlal, Prabhu Nath, Ajay Kumar, and Suresh Kumar stated that hundreds of people pass under these wires daily.

Risk of Catastrophe

The weakness of the wooden poles and the dilapidated condition of the wires mean a major accident could occur at any moment, potentially causing significant loss of life and property. The villagers have appealed to the electricity department for immediate intervention to rectify this dangerous setup.

Villagers' Demands and Department's Response

The primary demand of the villagers is for the electricity department to remove these wooden poles without delay and install strong, permanent electric poles in their place. Additionally, they are requesting the replacement of the deteriorated electrical wires to ensure safe power supply in the village.

They emphasize that they cannot feel secure until this problem is resolved. Taking cognizance of the matter, Vijay Kumar Mahatav, Executive Engineer of the Maharajganj Tarei electricity sub-station, responded. He acknowledged the need to strengthen the electrical infrastructure in Harirhnagar village.

Mahatav assured the villagers that the department is conducting an objective assessment of the problem and will find a solution through appropriate action soon. For now, the villagers are awaiting concrete steps from the department to escape the fear of electrical accidents.
