Amrawada Women Observe Haritalika Teej Fast, Idol Immersion Concludes

Haritalika Teej Observance in Amrawada

Amrawada, September 15, 2026 – Married women in Amrawada town observed the renowned Haritalika Teej festival by undertaking a waterless fast. Their prayers were for their husbands' long life and a happy married life.

Throughout the day, the women remained without water and listened to religious narratives concerning Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The night was filled with devotional songs, kirtans, and an all-night vigil, creating a spiritual atmosphere in which a large number of women participated.

Idol Immersion Ceremony

Following tradition, on Tuesday, the second day of the fast, women performed the parana (breaking of the fast) and proceeded for a collective idol immersion.

Dressed in traditional attire, the women carried baskets filled with special puja materials on their heads. These baskets contained flowers, bel leaves, and other sacred items. Despite a light drizzle from the morning, the women's enthusiasm remained undeterred, symbolizing their deep faith.

Ritualistic Immersion

It is believed that upon the conclusion of the Haritalika Teej fast, the idols of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, along with all the puja materials, are immersed in a sacred water body, such as a pond. Adhering to this religious tradition, a group of women gathered at the town's water body.

The immersion of the puja materials and idols was completed with proper rituals. During the immersion, women continued to sing traditional folk songs, which added a devotional and cultural ambiance to the entire event. Through this ritual, they offered prayers for their unbroken marital fortune and the overall well-being of their families.

This event was not only of religious significance but also played a vital role in keeping the town's cultural traditions alive. The large participation of women further enhanced the importance of this festival.
