Road Accident in Bareilly Claims One Life, Injures Dozens

The Cliff News | Bareilly | November 3, 2026 A horrific road accident occurred early Tuesday morning near the Dhaneta railway crossing in Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly district. A bus, en route from Himachal Pradesh to Nepal, veered out of control and collided with a truck parked by the roadside.

The accident, which took place on the national highway in the Fatehganj Paschimi area around 4 AM, claimed the life of one passenger and left 32 others injured. The bus, operated by Pashupati Nath Travels with registration number UK08PA1567, was reportedly heading to Rupediha, Nepal, from Himachal Pradesh when it crashed into the rear of an unidentified stationary truck.

Driver Fatigue Suspected as Cause of Fatal Collision

Preliminary investigations suggest that driver fatigue, or the bus driver falling asleep at the wheel, may have caused the accident. The violent impact triggered panic among the passengers inside the bus.

Upon receiving information, local police and villagers rushed to the scene. With the assistance of local residents, they managed to safely extricate passengers trapped inside the bus. A total of 32 passengers, including the bus driver, sustained injuries.

Injured Transported to Hospitals, One Declared Dead

All injured individuals were promptly transported to nearby hospitals with the help of ambulances. Sadly, one passenger was declared dead during treatment at the Community Health Center (CHC) in Tehsil Mirganj. The identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed.

The police have sent the body to the mortuary for post-mortem examination and are attempting to contact the victim's family. CO Highway, Devesh Singh, stated that the passengers on the bus were migrant laborers returning home after working in Himachal Pradesh.

Multiple Hospitals Treating Injured; Traffic Restored

Critically injured passengers, including Kishan and 12-year-old Dinesh, have been admitted to Rajshree Hospital. Another 18 injured individuals have been sent to Noida Hospital in Bareilly for treatment. A total of 13 passengers on the bus are reported to have escaped the accident unharmed.

The damaged bus has been removed from the highway with the assistance of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and traffic has been restored. The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident. The condition of the bus driver is also reported to be critical. The police have taken possession of the body and initiated further legal proceedings.
