Investigation Underway in Madhauli Village
Complaints of irregularities in ration distribution and illegal collection of money for new ration cards in Madhauli village, Fatehganj Paschimi area of Bareilly district, have caused a stir in administrative circles. Following a collective complaint by the villagers, ADO Agriculture Satyaveer Singh visited the village on Monday to initiate an investigation and record local residents' statements.
Allegations Against Ration Dealer
Villagers have leveled serious accusations of irregularities against the ration dealer, Naresh Kumar. Dozens of villagers, including Jagdish, Vinod, Krishna, Hukum Singh, Nattho Devi, Ramchandra, Nanak Chand, Ramchandra Maurya, Omvati, Veer Bahadur, and Manoj, have complained that the dealer is providing one kilogram less ration per card from the government quota. This not only causes financial loss but also deprives them of essential supplies.
Extortion for New Ration Cards
Another serious aspect of the complaints involves hefty sums being demanded from villagers for obtaining new ration cards. Manoj Kumar stated that the dealer is charging between Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000 for new ration cards. Many villagers, despite paying, have not yet received their cards, causing them significant distress. Furthermore, those whose names were removed from previously approved ration lists have not even been notified, adding to their confusion.
Coercion and Ration Denial
Villagers also allege that the dealer pressures them to buy additional items like soap and detergent, and denies them ration if they refuse. This situation is proving to be a double blow for the residents of Madhauli village.
Investigation Report to Be Submitted
ADO Agriculture Satyaveer Singh stated that written complaints were received from the villagers. During the investigation, they reiterated their allegations verbally but could not provide concrete evidence to support their claims. The officer assured that a detailed report on the entire matter will be prepared and submitted to higher authorities in the coming days.
Dealer Denies Allegations
Meanwhile, the accused dealer, Naresh Kumar, has completely dismissed all allegations against him as baseless, stating he is not involved in any irregularities. The matter now rests on a high-level investigation, after which action against the culprits and the revelation of the truth are expected.
