Thalapathy Vijay Visits Theatre in Mask to Watch Thiruchitrambalam, Calls Dhanush to Praise Performance

A Unique Display of Friendship and Respect

A remarkable instance of the deep friendship and mutual respect between two South Indian cinema giants, Thalapathy Vijay and Dhanush, has come to light. Renowned lyricist Vivek recently shared in an interview that Thalapathy Vijay, like an ordinary audience member, went to a theatre to watch Dhanush's blockbuster film 'Thiruchitrambalam' and called Dhanush immediately after the movie ended to commend his performance.

This incident occurred while Dhanush's 'Thiruchitrambalam' was still playing in cinemas. Thalapathy Vijay was in Hyderabad at the time, shooting for his film 'Varisu'. Lyricist Vivek recounted this anecdote during his conversation with S.S. Music.

Vijay's Request to Attend the Screening

Vivek mentioned that when he met Vijay on the shooting set, Vijay inquired when he had watched 'Thiruchitrambalam' and why he hadn't been invited. Vivek expressed his hesitation, citing concerns for Vijay's safety and the potential for crowds.

'Don't worry about that. You book the tickets, book them right now.'

Following Vijay's directive, Vivek immediately booked tickets for the film at AMB Mall in Hyderabad.

Anonymously Enjoying the Film

Thalapathy Vijay, to conceal his identity, wore a cap and a face mask and quietly sat amongst the regular audience members in the auditorium, thoroughly enjoying the entire film. After the movie concluded, Vijay was so impressed by Dhanush's acting and the film's narrative that he called Dhanush without any delay.

'The film has turned out truly excellent. You have done a fantastic job in it.'

This event underscores the mutual respect and camaraderie among big stars in the Tamil film industry, highlighting their appreciation for each other's work.

Success of 'Thiruchitrambalam'

'Thiruchitrambalam', directed by Mithran R. Jawahar, was released in August 2022 and proved to be one of the most successful films of that year. Alongside Dhanush, the film featured actors such as Nithya Menen, Raashi Khanna, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Prakash Raj, and Bharathiraja. The music by Anirudh Ravichander and the songs penned by Vivek and Dhanush were integral parts of the film. The movie, a blend of family drama and romantic comedy, won the hearts of the audience.
