Rajinikanth's much-anticipated film, Jailer 2, has etched its name in cinema history by becoming the highest-grossing Tamil film worldwide. The movie has garnered phenomenal business across the globe, notably surpassing the lifetime collection of its predecessor's co-star's earlier film, 2.0, which had earned approximately ₹691 crore.
The film's phenomenal run at the box office saw its worldwide gross collection climb to an impressive ₹710.35 crore by Sunday, October 25th. This significant milestone was achieved just 11 days after its theatrical release on October 15th, cementing its status as the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2026.
Domestic Box Office Dominance
Domestically, Jailer 2 demonstrated remarkable performance. On Sunday, it collected a gross of ₹25.70 crore, pushing its total India gross collection to ₹466.85 crore. The film's India net collection has reached a substantial ₹398.70 crore.
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the original Tamil version was a major contributor, raking in ₹17.35 crore on its eleventh day from 5,683 shows. The Telugu dubbed version added another ₹4.50 crore from 1,860 shows, while the Hindi version garnered ₹3.15 crore from a wider release of 4,195 shows. The Kannada version also contributed positively, collecting ₹70 lakh from 216 shows.

Directed and written by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures. The film serves as a sequel to the highly successful 2023 blockbuster Jailer, which starred Rajinikanth and Ramya Krishnan. Both lead actors are reprising their iconic roles as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian and Vijaya Pandian respectively. Key supporting cast members, including Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, and Rithvik, are also returning to their roles.
While the official premiere date for the film has not yet been announced by the production house, a tentative internet release date has been set for November 12, 2026.
Legal Action Over Reviews
Following the film's release, the makers of Jailer 2 have reportedly initiated legal action against what they describe as malicious and negative online reviews. The production house claims that these reviews are detrimental to the film's reputation. In the digital age, social media buzz, reviews, and word-of-mouth significantly influence a film's overall traffic and box office performance.
