Investigators probing the recent firing incident at actor Tiger Shroff's vehicle have unearthed details of a sophisticated weapons supply chain, allegedly involving two women who transported firearms to Mumbai. The weapons were reportedly collected from a pre-arranged location in Amritsar using a clandestine method known as a “dead letter box”.

The operation points to a deliberate plan to arm individuals for the attack, with a significant sum allegedly changing hands to facilitate the weapon transfer. The Mumbai Crime Branch is actively pursuing leads to dismantle this network and understand the full scope of the operation.

The 'Dead Letter Box' Method

The firearms used in the incident were allegedly retrieved from a pre-arranged location in Amritsar. This method, termed a “dead letter box,” involves leaving an item at a designated spot for collection without the sender and receiver ever meeting. This technique is designed to obscure the identities of those involved in the transfer.

Sources indicate that two individuals, identified as Kunal and Sumit, travelled to Amritsar approximately two weeks prior to the incident to collect these weapons. They reportedly picked up the firearms from the location without knowing who had initially placed them there. This anonymity is a key feature of the “dead letter box” system, aiming to insulate participants from direct association.

Allegations Against Key Figures

Anil Pandit is alleged to be a central figure in this supply network. He purportedly shared the pickup location in Amritsar with Kunal and maintained contact through an encrypted messaging application. This use of encrypted communication suggests a deliberate effort to conceal their dealings.

Pandit is also accused of paying Kunal and Sumit between Rs 70,000 and Rs 80,000 for their role in collecting and transporting the weapons. This payment structure highlights the financial incentives involved in facilitating such operations.

Women's Alleged Role in Transport

Of the total amount paid to Kunal and Sumit, a portion, estimated between Rs 10,000 and Rs 12,000, was allegedly given to two women, identified as Babita and Radha. These women were reportedly tasked with the crucial role of transporting the firearms from Amritsar to Mumbai.

Investigators believe that Kunal enlisted his girlfriend, Radha, for this task. Both Radha and Babita are said to work at a factory in Sonipat. Their involvement suggests a broader network extending beyond the initial collection point, leveraging individuals for the final leg of the weapon delivery.

Kunal's Background and Connections

Further details reveal that Kunal was released from Sonipat jail in July of this year. Upon his release, a friend allegedly introduced him to Anil Pandit. Their subsequent communication, primarily via an encrypted application, led to Kunal being tasked with the weapon collection and transportation operation to Mumbai.

Sources suggest Kunal met Radha approximately two months ago. Her subsequent travel to Mumbai with Babita was reportedly at his request, solidifying the connection between the alleged shooters' armament and their female couriers.

Investigation into the Firing Incident

These revelations emerge amidst the ongoing investigation by the Mumbai Crime Branch into the firing incident involving Tiger Shroff's car in Juhu on Sunday evening. The actor fortunately escaped unharmed, though his driver sustained injuries. The crime branch has been diligently working to piece together the sequence of events and identify all individuals involved.

On Wednesday, three key accused in connection with the case were apprehended and brought to Mumbai from Kota, Rajasthan. Following medical examinations, they were taken to the Anti-Extortion Cell office for intensive questioning. The legal proceedings are underway, with the accused expected to be produced before a court shortly.

Original Target Allegedly Another Celebrity

In a startling development, investigators have also claimed that the shooters initially intended to target another prominent Bollywood celebrity. However, this plan was reportedly abandoned due to the high level of security surrounding the intended victim, making them an unattainable target.

The identity of this initially targeted celebrity has not been disclosed by the police. This suggests a potential pattern of targeted intimidation or violence within the film industry, with the shooters shifting their focus to what they perceived as an easier mark.

Shroff Identified as 'Easier Target'

Following the abandonment of their initial plan, the accused allegedly decided to target Tiger Shroff. Investigators believe the rationale behind this shift was the perception that Shroff would be a more accessible target, possibly due to less stringent security measures compared to their original intended victim.

This change in target underscores the opportunistic nature of the alleged plot and highlights the challenges law enforcement faces in anticipating such shifting plans. The Mumbai Crime Branch continues to explore all angles of the motive behind the attack.

Management Warns Against Misinformation

In light of the incident, Tiger Shroff's management team has issued a strong advisory against the circulation of fabricated statements, AI-generated videos, and other unauthorized content falsely attributed to the actor. They have emphasized that Shroff has not released any official statement or video regarding the case.

The management team urges media organizations and social media users to rely solely on verified information to prevent the spread of misinformation. This caution is crucial in managing public perception and ensuring accurate reporting during sensitive investigations.

Ongoing Investigation

The investigation into the firing incident and the alleged complex weapons supply network is actively continuing. Authorities are committed to uncovering the full truth, identifying all accomplices, and ensuring justice is served.
