In a significant gesture, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was presented with a statue of the valiant warrior Raja Kishore Singh Judev Lodhi at Parliament House in New Delhi today. Representatives from the Hindoria Mahadele Lodhi family in Damoh extended this cordial gift.

During the presentation, Prime Minister Modi was briefed on Raja Kishore Singh Judev Lodhi's historic contributions and bravery during the 1857 Indian Rebellion. He received detailed information about the ruler's unique sacrifices and pivotal role in the 1842-1857 freedom struggle.

Invitation to Damoh Unveiling

The delegation extended a warm invitation to Prime Minister Modi to grace the grand unveiling ceremony of the Raja Kishore Singh Judev Lodhi statue, proposed by his family in Damoh. The event is slated to be a significant commemoration of the historical figure.

Raja Kishore Singh Judev Lodhi: A Hero of 1857

Raja Kishore Singh Judev Lodhi, a brave ruler of the Hindoria principality, is recognized as one of the last great heroes of India's First War of Independence, particularly the 1857 Revolution. He had ignited the flames of rebellion as early as 1842 and steadfastly resisted the British during the 1857 uprising.

The extent of his valor and struggle is evident from the fact that the British demolished Rajgadi Hindoria using their 8-pound cannons during the 1857 Revolution. The remnants of these cannons stand as testaments to that historic conflict. The British government had announced a hefty reward of ₹1000 for anyone capturing Raja Kishore Singh Lodhi Judev, dead or alive, a considerable sum at the time.

Damoh's 10-Month Liberation from British Rule

Under the leadership of Raja Kishore Singh Judev, the Damoh district achieved a remarkable feat during the 1857 Revolution, remaining completely free from British rule for approximately 10 months. Notably, he led the rebellion from the Kumhari police station in the Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh for a continuous period of four and a half months.

Historians consider this period a unique and inspiring chapter in the freedom struggle of Akhand Bharat. Raja Kishore Singh Judev continued his fight against the British government until December 1858. His resistance was so effective that the British government was compelled to sign a final treaty with him on August 10, 1858. Consequently, he is remembered among the last brave kings of the 1857 Revolution who fought the British for as long as possible, becoming a symbol of patriotism and unwavering resolve.
