Ex-Servicemen Prioritized for Security and Welfare in Guna
Guna | October 29, 2026 - A quarterly meeting of the Sainik Kalyan Board (Soldiers' Welfare Board) was held in Guna, chaired by Collector Kishore Kumar Kanyal. The meeting extensively discussed the welfare of the district's ex-servicemen and the resolution of their issues.
A significant decision made was to provide special priority to ex-servicemen in the district's security arrangements. To facilitate this, instructions were issued to prepare a list of retired soldiers, ensuring their skills and capabilities are utilized appropriately. Collector Kanyal stated that ex-servicemen's services will also be sought as volunteers during upcoming festivals and various events. This initiative aims to honor their contributions and provide them with opportunities to remain connected with society.
Health Facilities and Licenses Discussed
The meeting also featured crucial discussions on improving health facilities for ex-servicemen. The Collector directed the Chief Medical and Health Officer to expedite the process of listing certified hospitals in Guna district under the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS). This will ensure ex-servicemen and their dependents can easily access healthcare services.
Furthermore, emphasis was placed on the swift and lawful disposal of applications for new and renewed arms licenses. Officials were instructed to resolve these matters within stipulated deadlines.
Other Welfare Measures
Orders have been issued to the Municipal Corporation to take necessary action regarding concessions on property and building taxes for ex-servicemen, as per government regulations. This step is intended to provide financial relief to ex-servicemen.
The responsibility for selecting suitable land for the construction of a new building for the District Soldier Welfare Board office has been assigned to SDM Shivani Pandey.
Present at the meeting were Additional Superintendent of Police Prashant Suman, Colonel Bhanu Pratap Singh, Wing Commander Ashutosh Shukla, other administrative officials, and several ex-servicemen.
