Major Drug Bust in Bareilly: Smuggler Apprehended with Significant Opium Haul

In a significant crackdown against drug trafficking, the Bareilly Police have arrested a resident of Sisauana carrying over six kilograms of illegal opium and a motorcycle. The operation was a joint effort by the Bhamora Police Station and the Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) conducted on September 17th, reaffirming the administration's zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics.

During a routine security check for suspicious vehicles near the IFFCO factory's material gate, the police team stopped an individual identified as Vishal. This search was part of ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities in the city.

Discovery of Illicit Opium and Vehicle Seizure

A thorough search of Vishal revealed six kilograms and 320 grams of opium, with an estimated high market value. The police also confiscated his Hero Honda Passion Pro motorcycle, believed to have been used in his illegal operations. Legal proceedings have commenced against the arrested individual under various sections of the NDPS Act, with case number 387/26 registered at the Bhamora Police Station.

Interrogation Reveals Drug Syndicate Operations

During initial interrogation, the arrested smuggler, Vishal, provided startling information to the police. He confessed to being involved in the long-term sale of opium with an accomplice, indicating the presence of an active drug trafficking ring.

He revealed that their gang sourced opium from Jharkhand, a state from which drug smuggling remains a significant concern for law enforcement. The police are focusing on this angle of the investigation.

Network Details Emerge: Station Dealings and Profit Motive

According to Vishal, his associate would purchase the opium consignment from an individual arriving at the Bareilly Railway Station from Jharkhand. These transactions were typically carried out in secluded locations or during off-peak hours to minimize the risk of being caught.

Subsequently, the duo would sell the contraband at inflated prices, profiting from their illicit trade. This revelation suggests a potentially organized drug smuggling network operating within Bareilly.

The police are now conducting further investigations to identify other members of this drug smuggling network and to delve deeper into the source of the opium. Vishal has been presented before the court following legal procedures and may be sent to judicial custody.
