Major Action Against Illicit Liquor Storage

In a significant crackdown on the storage of illicit liquor, the Mehgaon Police Station in Bhind district has taken decisive action. Under the direction of Superintendent of Police Suraj Kumar Verma and Additional Superintendent of Police Pradeep Patel, and guidance from SDOP Sanjay Kauchha, a police team successfully apprehended an accused and confiscated a substantial quantity of illegal alcohol.

Seizure of Liquor and Vehicle

The operation resulted in the seizure of a Santro car and approximately 59.58 liters of illicit English liquor. This action is a part of the police's ongoing commitment to maintaining law and order within the Mehgaon Police Station area and curbing the proliferation of illegal narcotics. It is considered a significant success under the special campaign against drug abuse, enhancing the sense of security among local residents.

Swift Action Based on Informant Tip

The operation commenced on November 1, 2026, when Mehgaon Police Station SHO Inspector Ravindra Sharma received credible information from a reliable informant. The informant reported that a Santro car, bearing registration number DL 2 CAD 0263, was parked suspiciously in Chaudhary Mohalla of Khasba Mehgaon, laden with boxes of illegal liquor. The information caused immediate stir within the police department, leading to the formation of a team under Inspector Sharma.

Vehicle Search Yields Contraband

The police team promptly acted on the tip, reaching the location and cordoning off the car to prevent any escape. A legal search of the Santro car was conducted, leading to the discovery of a large quantity of illicit English liquor. The total volume of seized liquor was reported to be 59.58 liters, though specific brands were not immediately detailed. The car was also taken into police custody, indicating the accused's involvement in smuggling or storing illegal alcohol.

Case Registered, Accused Arrested

Following the seizure, the liquor and the vehicle were brought to Mehgaon Police Station. A case was registered under Section 34(2) of the Excise Act of the Indian Penal Code as Crime Number 302/26. The police immediately arrested one accused present in the car. During initial interrogation, the arrested individual confessed to his involvement in transporting illicit liquor and was subsequently taken into legal custody and presented before the court.

Accused's Criminal History Under Scrutiny

Further investigation revealed that the arrested accused has a prior criminal record. Police records indicate that the accused has three other cases registered against him at Police Station Mehgaon under various sections. This suggests the individual may be a habitual offender with a history of engaging in illegal activities. The successful execution of this operation was attributed to the leadership of SHO Inspector Ravindra Sharma and the efforts of head constables Rajesh Garg, Lokendra Singh Tomar, Pradeep Pachauri, Satendra Sharma, constables Ajay Ojha, Mangal Baghel, Hemant Singh, Ashok Mawai, Ramkhiladi, and driver constable Shivkumar Sharma. The police are continuing their investigation to uncover the entire network involved in the illicit liquor trade.
