Adulterated Milk Racket Unearthed in Mandsaur's Garoth Area
The illicit trade of adulterated milk has once again been exposed in the Garoth area of Mandsaur district. An unannounced raid by the administration on a dairy in Barkheda Ambeka village revealed a significant quantity of adulterants, including hydrogen peroxide, a substance considered extremely harmful to health. This discovery has highlighted the severe health crisis looming over local residents.
Acting on a tip-off, Garoth Sub-Divisional Magistrate Rahul Chauhan, accompanied by Nayab Tehsildar Jinendra Nigam, inspected a dairy operating in Barkheda Ambeka village. During the raid, approximately one kilogram of ghee, milk powder, rice oil, and milk collected from farmers were seized from the dairy premises. Several other suspicious materials were also recovered and are currently under investigation.
The most alarming finding was the presence of hydrogen peroxide, which underscores the extensive scale of adulteration. Following the tip-off, Garoth Police Station In-charge Balveer Yadav arrived at the scene with his team and took control of the situation. The dairy operator, Vinod Gurjar, was immediately taken into custody.
Dairy Operator Detained, Investigation Launched
Samples of the seized materials were collected by a food safety officer and will be sent to a laboratory for detailed analysis. The report will reveal the exact substances used for adulteration and their level of danger. The Garoth police have registered a case against the accused, Vinod Gurjar, under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and initiated further legal proceedings.
Fifth Case in District, Supply Chain Under Suspicion
This is the fifth major action against adulterated milk in Mandsaur district this year. Similar cases of adulteration have previously been exposed in various tehsils of the district, including Dungerkhedi, Chachavada Pathari, Amra, and Kotda Bujurg. The recent incident in Barkheda Ambeka confirms the presence of an organized network of adulterators operating across different parts of the district.
Investigating agencies strongly suspect that the fake milk produced by this specific dairy was being supplied not only locally but also to dozens of villages in tehsils like Shamgarh, Bhanpura, and Garoth. There is a possibility that this adulterated milk was reaching even small tea shops in rural areas, exposing unsuspecting consumers to serious health risks.
Use of Hydrogen Peroxide: A Serious Health Hazard
The recovery of a dangerous industrial chemical like hydrogen peroxide from the dairy is a matter of grave concern. This chemical is used for adulterating food products and is extremely detrimental to human health. Medical experts state that direct contact with hydrogen peroxide can cause severe burns to the skin and eyes. Ingestion can lead to serious damage to internal organs, proving particularly fatal for individuals with weakened immune systems, such as children and the elderly.
Its consumption can result in long-term health problems, including gastrointestinal disorders and other serious ailments. The discovery raises critical questions about the integrity of the milk supply chain in the region.
Public Health Concerns, Questions of Responsibility
This action has cast a serious doubt on the reliability of the milk supply chain in the region. Local residents and concerned citizens are questioning whether this crackdown will only target a few operators or if the entire organized network will be dismantled. Many believe that if this adulteration racket has been ongoing for a long time, why were the food department and other responsible local administration officials unaware?
A thorough investigation is required to ensure such incidents do not recur. The administration should now focus not only on dairy operators but also conduct intensive checks on milk suppliers and the shops where this adulterated milk was being sold. This will effectively curb the dangerous gamble with public health. The extent of health impacts from this 'toxic' milk will only become clear after the final investigation report is released.
