Ownership Registry Scheme Implementation Lags
The Bhind district administration has issued show-cause notices to five revenue officers for gross negligence in the implementation of the ownership registry scheme. District Magistrate Pawan Kumar Jain expressed deep displeasure over the slow progress, demanding satisfactory replies from the concerned officers within three days.
Failure to meet the set targets has been deemed as indifference towards government work and defiance of senior officials' directives. The officers who received the notices include Sub-Divisional Officer Revenue (SDOR) Lahar Pradeep Mishra, Tehsildar Bhind Mohanlal Sharma, Tehsildar Mihona Hariom Pachauri, Naib Tehsildar Circle Pipri Devendra Tomar, and Naib Tehsildar Circle Umri Rupam Gupta.
These officers have been accused of misconduct under the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1965.
Lagging Behind Targets
According to official data, a target of 34,530 ownership registries was set for the Lahar subdivision, but only 16.31 percent of the work has been completed so far. Similarly, in the Pipri and Umri circles under Bhind tehsil, only 12.66 percent progress has been recorded against a target of 23,028.
The performance of Mihona tehsil is also concerning, with only 13.62 percent of the targeted 7,927 registries being completed. The low-level progress of this scheme at the district level is tarnishing the district's image at the state level.
Strict Action for Non-Response
The district administration has issued notices to the concerned officers, considering this a serious lapse in government work and deliberate disregard for the directives of senior officials. They have been instructed to submit their written explanations within three days of receiving the notice.
If a satisfactory response is not received within this period, ex-parte disciplinary action will be taken against the concerned officers. A proposal for severe punishment will also be sent to the Commissioner in this matter. The administration has clarified that the concerned officers will be solely responsible for this entire process.
