Joint Inspection for Heritage and Security in Ater

In a significant joint visit to the Ater region, District Collector Pawan Jain and Superintendent of Police Suraj Kumar Verma aimed to strengthen law and order, preserve historical heritage, and protect natural resources in the Bhind district.

The primary objective of this tour was to explore possibilities for tourism development at the historic Ater Fort and to curb the ongoing illegal sand mining activities in the coastal areas of the Chambal River.

Exploring Tourism Potential at Ater Fort

District Collector Pawan Jain meticulously inspected the architectural grandeur of the historic Ater Fort and the existing tourist facilities. He emphasized that the fort is a vital heritage site for the region, requiring collaborative efforts between the Archaeology Department and local administration to formulate effective tourism development plans for national recognition.

The plans will prioritize the fort's renovation and the expansion of essential amenities for tourists.

Strict Action Against Illegal Mining on Chambal Banks

In the subsequent phase of the inspection, administrative and police officials visited the coastal areas of the Chambal River. Clear instructions were issued to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and the police to completely halt illegal sand mining and transportation.

Collector Jain strictly warned officials to adopt a policy of zero tolerance towards the mafia involved in illegal mining. He directed an increase in patrols along sensitive river routes and the activation of check posts.

The Collector also stressed the importance of ensuring stringent legal and punitive action against individuals apprehended for illegal activities, thereby curbing such offenses.

Present during the inspection were the SDM of Ater, Deputy Collector Kavita, Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Ravindra Vaskale, Station House Officer, and personnel from the Revenue, Forest, and Police departments. Senior officials guided the subordinate staff to work in coordination and maintain peace in the area.

This visit is considered a crucial step towards conserving historical sites and effectively controlling illegal activities, with the aim of ensuring the protection of the district's cultural heritage and natural resources.
