Parliamentary Committee Approves AMRUT 2.0 Draft Report

The Parliamentary Committee on Housing and Urban Affairs has accepted the draft report concerning the review of sewerage and septage coverage in cities nationwide under the 'Amrut' (AMRUT) and 'Amrut 2.0' missions. This crucial draft report underwent detailed deliberation and was unanimously approved during the committee's 22nd meeting held on Friday at the Parliament House Annexe.

Focus on Sewerage and Septage Management

The meeting saw extensive discussions on the current status, challenges, and improvement measures for sewerage and septage management in urban areas. Mrs. Maya Narolia, a Rajya Sabha member from Madhya Pradesh and a committee member, also participated in this session, which was chaired by the committee's chairman, Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy.

Strengthening Urban Sanitation Infrastructure

The committee emphasized the necessity of expanding sewerage and septage coverage in urban regions. Furthermore, the meeting stressed the development of effective mechanisms to ensure the treatment and reuse of sewage water.
