Schools across Noida and Greater Noida have been directed by the Gautam Buddh Nagar administration to significantly cap daily screen time for students. Primary classes will be limited to 30 minutes of screen exposure, while upper-primary students will have a maximum of 60 minutes per day.

This directive comes in response to widespread complaints from parents' associations, which highlighted concerns that children were spending an excessive four to five hours daily on smart and digital boards for various learning activities. The administration's statement, released on Thursday, mandates that these new guidelines apply to all government, aided, and private schools within the district.

Monitoring Compliance

To ensure adherence to the new screen time limits, designated magistrates and nodal officers have been tasked with actively monitoring compliance. These officials will oversee the implementation of the daily screen time caps across all educational institutions in Noida and Greater Noida.

Concerns Over Digital Learning

Parents had previously voiced their unease, stating that smart and digital boards were being used continuously throughout the school day. This included displaying textbooks, conducting regular classwork, facilitating question-answer sessions, and even assigning homework through these digital platforms. The extensive use raised alarms about potential negative impacts on children's well-being and learning habits.

Screen Brightness Mandate

In addition to capping screen time, the administration has also issued guidelines for maintaining appropriate screen brightness. This measure aims to further protect students' eye health and create a more comfortable learning environment when digital tools are in use. The authority's intervention signals a concerted effort to balance the benefits of digital education with the need to safeguard student welfare.
