Mumbai: Two Dead, Four Injured Near Ganesh Pandal Due to Electrocution
A tragic incident occurred in Mumbai's Lalbaug area during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, resulting in two deaths and four injuries due to electrocution near a pandal.

Tragic Electrocution Incident Near Ganesh Pandal
A severe accident has occurred in Mumbai's Lalbaug area during the Ganesh Utsav celebrations, where an electrical current spreading near a Ganpati pandal claimed two lives and injured four others. The incident took place early on Sunday morning, around 2:20 AM, near the pandal of the Kakachowki Vibhag Sarvajanik Utsav Mandal on Dattaram Lad Marg in Kakachowki.
At the time of the accident, a large number of devotees were present due to the ongoing festivities. Eight-year-old Raghni Ghanshyam Yadav tragically died on the spot. She was rushed to Masina Hospital in Byculla, where doctors declared her dead.
Injured Admitted to Hospital
Among the injured are 19-year-old Kiran Akbar Naik, 19-year-old Tanvi Narsh Hande, 19-year-old Sahil Sandeep Tare, and 12-year-old Ruhi Singh. All have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Second Death Confirmed
Authorities later confirmed a second death. A woman undergoing treatment at Global Hospital succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Her identity and further details are currently unclear, bringing the total death toll from this unfortunate incident to two.
Immediate Relief and Rescue Operations
Upon receiving information about the incident, teams from the Mumbai Police, Fire Brigade, BEST (Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport), and the concerned ward office of the Municipal Corporation immediately reached the scene. Efforts were made to provide aid to the injured and bring the situation under control at the site.
Investigation Underway, Safety Concerns Raised
A detailed investigation into the causes of this accident is currently underway. The Lalbaug area witnesses massive crowds during Ganesh Utsav, and the safety of electrical arrangements at and around the pandals has now become a significant concern. The administration is awaiting detailed information on the technical causes of the accident and who is responsible.
