Cybercrime Crackdown Across Madhya Pradesh

The Madhya Pradesh Police have intensified their efforts against cybercrimes and online financial fraud. Over the past two days, swift actions across various districts and by the state cyber police have exposed mule bank accounts, share market investment scams, and inter-state cyber fraud networks.

Numerous arrests have been made, and a substantial quantity of banking documents, ATM cards, chequebooks, QR codes, mobile phones, and laptops have been seized. These operations aim to protect citizens from online fraud and dismantle illegal financial transaction networks.

A statement released by the Police Headquarters, Bhopal, highlighted that these campaigns are a significant step towards curbing the rising incidents of cybercrime and the financial losses incurred by the public.

Mule Account Syndicate Busted, ₹25 Lakhs in Transactions Seized

In Narsinghpur district, police apprehended two individuals involved in unauthorized transactions via mule accounts. Initial investigations reveal that these accused operated across states like Karnataka, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Delhi, facilitating financial transactions amounting to approximately ₹25 lakhs.

The police confiscated two mobile phones, three passbooks, and four ATM cards used to conduct these unauthorized transactions. Mule accounts are accounts used by fraudsters to conceal their identities and launder illicit funds.

Investment Scam Ring from Gujarat Exposed

In a related operation, Khargone district police busted an inter-state gang that defrauded individuals by promising high returns on share market investments. Three accused were arrested from Gujarat.

The perpetrators contacted the complainant via WhatsApp and convinced them to invest through a dummy application for share trading, ultimately defrauding them. The police have recovered ₹10.95 lakhs in funds obtained through this scam, representing a portion of the gang's fraudulent activities.

Cyber Fraud Network Uncovered, Over 250 Accounts Linked

Under 'Operation Matrix' in Indore, a major operation led to the arrest of key individuals operating an inter-state network of bank accounts for cyber fraud. Investigations revealed that these accused had shared details of over 250 bank accounts with cyber fraudsters.

The police seized 21 bank passbooks, 08 ATM cards, 20 chequebooks, 07 QR codes, and 01 laptop used to operate this network. This action is expected to significantly disrupt the cyber fraud ecosystem.

₹21 Crore Scam Accused Arrested from Chhattisgarh, Cambodia Link Suspected

In Gwalior, state cyber police arrested the eighth accused in a case involving over ₹21 crores in trading fraud from Kabirdham, Chhattisgarh. Seven individuals had already been arrested in connection with this case.

Investigations indicate the accused created a fake web platform named 'Tradecboeus', promising excessive investment returns to lure victims. The bank account of one accused was found to be used for cyber fraud transactions across three states, leading to its freezing.

Analysis of mobile devices revealed WhatsApp chats with numbers bearing Cambodia's country code, suggesting international connections for the syndicate. The investigation also found that the accused opened current accounts under fake company names for cyber fraud activities. Approximately ₹25 lakhs, the initial layer of defrauded funds, was found transacted into the bank account of the accused's brother.

The accused has been taken into police remand for interrogation regarding the stolen funds and other absconding culprits.

Advisory Issued for Citizens

The Madhya Pradesh Police have urged citizens to exercise extreme caution with their bank account details, ATM cards, passbooks, chequebooks, and other banking credentials. They are advised not to share this information or these instruments with any unknown individuals.

Furthermore, citizens investing in the stock market are strongly advised to use only institutions registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and authorized platforms to prevent falling victim to fraud.
