Tragic Incident on National Highway

A shocking incident unfolded on Sunday evening near Panchalghat on the Etawah-Bareilly National Highway (730C) in the Qadigate police station area of Farrukhabad. A young man, identified as Arun, a resident of Faridabad, Haryana, was shot dead by unknown assailants in front of his wife and young child. The event caused panic on the highway.

The 32-year-old Arun was returning to his home in Faridabad with his wife, Rakhi, and their child after visiting Varanasi. He had stopped his car near a shop at Panchalghat to buy cold drinks, chips, and water. It was then that assailants in a white car opened fire on him.

Arun succumbed to his injuries on the spot, having sustained gunshot wounds to the head and shoulder. Police were immediately alerted and arrived at the scene, including Superintendent of Police Aarti Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police Girish Kumar Singh, CO City Abhay Verma, and teams from several police stations. The body has been sent to the mortchery of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Police Launch Investigation

The police have taken custody of the DVR from CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity of the crime scene to commence their investigation. Superintendent of Police Aarti Singh confirmed that the deceased, Arun, was returning from Varanasi with his family. The preliminary investigation confirmed the firing incident by unknown assailants.

She further stated that a case is being registered based on the complaint filed by the victim's family. To ensure a swift resolution of the case, the police have deployed three teams comprising station police, SOG, and surveillance units. The police are confident of having found significant clues from the CCTV footage and expect to apprehend the accused soon.
