Successful Health Camp Concludes in Mahoba
Under the National Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), a two-day health check-up camp held in Bhagari village, Jaitpur development block, Mahoba, has successfully concluded. The special camp, organized on Tuesday and Wednesday, conducted in-depth health examinations for a total of 242 children from the Composite School and Anganwadi centres.
A team from the health department medically examined 169 children at the school and 73 children at the Anganwadi centre. The camp aimed to assess the health status of young children in the community and provide necessary guidance.
Focus on Seasonal Illness Prevention
During the camp, physicians educated the children about the symptoms of illnesses common during the changing weather. Specifically, the health team advised children on adopting hygiene practices and consuming nutritious food to prevent seasonal ailments like colds, coughs, and flu.
Doctors emphasized that extra caution is needed regarding children's health during this transitional weather period. They stressed the importance of vigilance during the winter season, advising immediate medical consultation if any illness symptoms appear. Children's immunity often weakens during this time, making them more susceptible to infections.
Parental Guidance and Hygiene Emphasis
Therefore, parents are urged to pay close attention to their children's diet and daily routines. Physicians also explained the significance of personal hygiene to the children, noting that regular handwashing, especially before meals and after using the toilet, helps prevent various illnesses.
The importance of a nutritious diet, including fresh fruits, vegetables, and nutrient-rich foods, was also highlighted. The advice included avoiding junk food and unhealthy beverages. Ensuring children get adequate rest is crucial for improving both their physical and mental well-being.
Role of Healthcare Professionals and Support Staff
In this health camp, Dr. P.N. Sharma, Dr. Akanksha Soni, and Dr. Amit Gangele provided their services. They conducted physical examinations of the children, identified potential health issues, and offered appropriate treatment and advice.
Also present were FHW Sangeeta, in-charge principal of the Composite School Ram Prakash Ahirwar, and Anganwadi worker Pushpa. Together, they ensured the smooth operation of the camp and maximized its benefits for the children.
Impact and Future Implications
Through this camp, not only was the health status of the children assessed, but they and their guardians were also encouraged towards better health habits. This initiative by the health department marks a significant step towards improving children's health at the local level, providing rural children with timely medical benefits and proper consultation.
Such health check-ups play a vital role in ensuring children's healthy development and identifying any serious illnesses in their early stages. This program aligns with the objectives of the National Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), which aims to improve the accessibility and quality of healthcare services for children nationwide.
