Criminal Apprehended with Illegal Weapon and Ammunition

Mahoba, August 3, 2026 – In a significant operation against illegal weapons in the Ajnar police station area of Mahoba district, police have apprehended a notorious criminal. The suspect was found in possession of an illicit firearm and live cartridges.

The arrested individual, identified as Hemant alias Nati Anuragi (27 years old), son of Rampal, a resident of village Bendu, Panwari police station, Mahoba district, was reportedly residing in Bajrang Colony, Ward No. 18, Naugaon police station, Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh. He faces nine previous criminal cases registered at the Naugaon police station in Madhya Pradesh, including charges related to assault, criminal intimidation, and the Arms Act.

Information from Informant Leads to Arrest

Acting on a tip-off from an informant, police received information that a suspect was present with an illegal weapon near the Army Firing Butt Hills in village Dhavra. Following this intelligence, a police team cordoned off the area on Monday.

Discovery and Legal Proceedings

During the search, police apprehended Hemant. A subsequent search of the accused yielded one 12-bore illicit firearm and one 12-bore live cartridge. Based on this recovery, a case has been registered against the accused at Ajnar police station under Section 3/25 of the Arms Act (Case No. 137/2026).

The police have compiled details of the accused's criminal history. He will be presented before the court for further legal proceedings.

This successful operation was conducted under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Mahoba, Mr. Shashank Singh, with the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police, Mrs. Vandana Singh, and supervision by Circle Officer Kulpahar, Mr. Aniruddh Kumar Singh.

The operation was executed by a team led by Station House Officer Subhash Chandra. The team included Chowki Incharge Dhavra, Sub-Inspector Shrikrishna Vaishya, Constable Aman Yadav, and Constable Ajit Yadav.
