Residents Protest Shoddy Construction in Fatehganj West
Local residents in the Fatehganj West area of Bareilly are expressing significant anger over the blatant disregard for quality standards during the construction of a CC road and drainage system. A large number of people have come out in protest against the ongoing work, demanding a high-level investigation and levelling serious accusations against the contractor.
Allegations of Compromised Quality in Drainage Work
The project, approved by the Duda office, is reportedly ignoring the prescribed quality for drain construction, fueling public resentment. Among the protesters were prominent figures such as Thakur Umesh Singh, Deputy Secretary of the National Human Rights Association, former corporator Thakur Umesh Singh, Master Netrapal Singh, Aman Pandey, Ayush Srivastava, Rajesh Srivastava, Veerpal Srivastava, Keshav, Anil Srivastava, and BJP leader Manju Kori, alongside dozens of other residents.
Concerns Over Materials and Design
Their primary allegation is that the drain construction lacks the proper mixture of cement and gravel. Furthermore, they claim that old and impure bricks are being used as construction material, posing a significant threat to the future durability of the drains. In several places, the width of the drain has also been found to be less than the stipulated standards.
Dispute Over Building New Road on Old Structure
Local residents have also raised strong objections to the contractor's methodology regarding the CC road. They state that preparations are underway to construct the new CC road directly over the old interlocking road, without removing it. They argue that if construction proceeds in this manner, the new road will quickly deteriorate, rendering the entire project futile and a waste of public funds.
Demand for High-Level Inquiry and Quality Assurance
The residents have unitedly appealed to the concerned government department and senior officials to take immediate cognizance of the matter. They are demanding an impartial investigation into the construction work and an end to the contractor's arbitrary practices. They assert that the CC road and drain must be built using high-quality materials to ensure longevity and prevent future inconvenience to the public. All eyes are now on the relevant department to see what action will be taken and to what extent the local citizens' demands will be met.
