Madhya Pradesh Police Crack Down on Thieves, Recover Millions in Stolen Goods

The Madhya Pradesh Police have successfully recovered over ₹2.48 crore in stolen property within a single week, targeting thieves and burglars who prey on empty homes and businesses. This significant recovery is a testament to the police's prompt action, effective use of technical evidence, and strong inter-district coordination.

Acting on information released by the Madhya Pradesh Police Headquarters, a comprehensive operation was conducted across various districts over the past week. The objective was to curb incidents of theft and burglary, leading to the successful apprehension of multiple offenders and the recovery of stolen assets worth crores of rupees.

Key Arrests and Recoveries Across Districts

Morena District

In Morena district, police unearthed theft and burglary cases through two separate operations. The Civil Line police station arrested four individuals, seizing over ₹41.21 lakh in cash, an illegal pistol, two live cartridges, and sharp weapons. Additionally, a car used in the crimes was confiscated, bringing the total seized property value to approximately ₹50 lakh. Separately, the Bagchini police station busted an inter-district gang involved in tower thefts, arresting four members and recovering vehicles and tools used in their operations, valued at around ₹15 lakh. In total, ₹65 lakh worth of property was recovered in Morena district.

Dhar District

The Dhar district police also demonstrated significant activity. The Manawar police station, in collaboration with Tamil Nadu Police, confiscated 385 grams of gold, estimated at approximately ₹55 lakh, and apprehended an accused. Furthermore, the Rajgarh police station recovered three stolen motorcycles within 24 hours, arresting one suspect and seizing property valued at about ₹2.25 lakh. The total value of property recovered in Dhar district reached ₹57.25 lakh.

Gwalior and Indore

Gwalior police successfully apprehended four notorious burglars targeting empty houses, recovering approximately ₹45 lakh worth of stolen goods. In Indore, the Rau police station, utilizing CCTV footage and technical evidence, solved a theft case involving a Creta car. They arrested the owner's servant and recovered ₹24.50 lakh out of the stolen ₹27 lakh.

Chhatarpur and Rajgarh Districts

The Chhatarpur district police arrested an interstate thief involved in a burglary in gram Dhamoura. The recovered property included gold and silver jewelry and a Hyundai Exter car, valued at approximately ₹24 lakh. In Rajgarh district, the Malavar police station recovered two bundles of stolen copper electrical cable (approx. 80 feet) and a Bolero vehicle used in the crime, with total seized property valued at around ₹10.50 lakh.

Railway Stations and Rural Areas Under Surveillance

Ujjain GRP

The Ujjain GRP (Government Railway Police) arrested four members of a gang that snatched gold bangles from women at the railway station. They recovered six gold bangles weighing a total of 69 grams and four cutters, valued at approximately ₹9.50 lakh.

Vidisha and Ujjain Districts

In Vidisha district, the Kurwai police station arrested an interstate female thief who surveyed houses in rural areas under the guise of selling utensils. Approximately ₹5 lakh worth of gold and silver jewelry was recovered from her. The Ujjain district's Panwasa police station apprehended a fugitive accused of thefts in empty houses, recovering an 11-leaf gold necklace estimated at about ₹2.20 lakh.

Khandwa, Chhindwara, and Dewas Districts

The Khandwa district police busted a burglary case, arresting two accused and seizing approximately ₹2 lakh worth of stolen property along with a motorcycle used in the crime. In Chhindwara district, the Kundi Pura police station arrested two individuals for stealing a sound system, 32-inch LCD, and a 65-inch interactive panel from a government high school, recovering property valued at approximately ₹1.50 lakh.

Dewas District Operations

Under 'Operation Trinetra' in Dewas district, police arrested an accused who broke into eight shops on Raksha Bandhan night. The suspect was identified through CCTV footage and informant tips, and the motorcycle used and stolen goods were recovered. In a separate operation, the Vijayanagar Mandi police station arrested one accused for stealing six submersible motors and seized the stolen items. The total property recovered in Dewas district amounted to approximately ₹91,000.

Sagar District

The Sagar district's Motinagar police solved a house theft case, arresting two adults and taking one juvenile into custody. Approximately ₹70,000 worth of gold and silver jewelry and other stolen items were recovered.
