Madhya Pradesh Police Seizes Over ₹37 Lakh in Assets During Anti-Drug Operations

In its ongoing campaign to make the state drug-free, the Madhya Pradesh Police has once again launched a major operation against the illegal drug trade. Recent coordinated actions across Mandsaur, Bhopal Dehat, Alirajpur, and Pandhurna districts have resulted in the seizure of significant quantities of narcotics and related paraphernalia.

Cumulatively, assets valued at over ₹37,16,500 have been confiscated. This includes MD drugs, dodachura (poppy straw), and illegally cultivated cannabis plants, dealing a severe blow to drug trafficking and sales networks. This operation underscores the state government's directive to the police department to effectively curb the smuggling, transportation, sale, and cultivation of illicit drugs.

Major Seizures Across Districts

Mandsaur: ₹25 Lakh Worth of MD Drugs and Dodachura Confiscated

In a significant operation, the Bhanpura Police Station in Mandsaur district intercepted a vehicle on the Garoth-Bhanpura road based on a tip-off. They seized 250 grams of MD drugs, estimated to be worth ₹25 lakh.

Additionally, 5 kilograms of dodachura, valued at approximately ₹10,000, were recovered. The police also confiscated a motorcycle without a number plate and two Android mobile phones used in the smuggling. The total assets seized in this single operation amounted to ₹25,75,000. Three individuals connected to the drug supply chain were arrested and are being interrogated to uncover further network members.

Bhopal Dehat: Two Drug Smugglers Apprehended with MD Drugs

Bhopal Dehat Police demonstrated its vigilance against drug trafficking by acting on confidential information received by the Parvalia Sadak Police Station. They seized 12.63 grams of MD drugs, with an estimated value of ₹1.50 lakh.

Two suspects were arrested at the scene along with a motorcycle and mobile phones used in the crime. The total assets seized in this operation were valued at approximately ₹3 lakh. Cases have been registered against the arrested individuals under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act for further investigation.

Alirajpur: Illegal Cannabis Cultivation Uncovered Amidst Cotton Crops

The Alirajpur district police targeted drug cultivation with a joint operation involving five police stations, including Sondwa Police Station. A raid was conducted in the Patel Phaliya area of Choti Hathvi village.

Police discovered cannabis plants being illegally cultivated amidst cotton and other crops. A total of 280 cannabis plants, weighing 142 kilograms and estimated to be worth ₹7.10 lakh, were seized. Legal proceedings have been initiated under the NDPS Act.

Pandhurna: Cannabis Crop Seized from Backyard Cultivation

The Mohgaon Police Station in Pandhurna district uncovered an illegal cannabis cultivation operation behind a house in Duddevani village. The seized cannabis plants weighed approximately 26.300 kilograms and are estimated to be worth ₹1,31,500.

This action is a significant step towards preventing the spread of narcotics at the local level. The continuous efforts by the Madhya Pradesh Police to act against individuals involved in the trafficking, transportation, sale, and cultivation of illicit drugs represent a solid move towards a drug-free state. These operations not only result in the seizure of large quantities of narcotics but also aim to economically cripple criminal enterprises by confiscating vehicles and other assets used in their illegal trade.

The police are also focusing on in-depth investigation of cases to expose the entire supply and distribution network.
