Major Anti-Drug Operation by Madhya Pradesh Police: Over ₹2.40 Crore Worth of Narcotics Seized in 10 Days

The Cliff News | Bhopal | August 6, 2026 Madhya Pradesh Police, in conjunction with the statewide awareness campaign "Nasha Se Doori Hai Zaroori 2.0" (Distance from Drugs is Necessary 2.0), have continued their effective action against drug trafficking and illegal trade. Over the past 10 days, they have seized narcotics and other assets valued at more than ₹2.40 crore.

During this period, a total of 39 accused individuals were arrested across various districts. This campaign aims to curb the rising spread of narcotics in the state, with the police demonstrating consistent alertness. The seized contraband includes restricted items such as dodachura, opium, MD, ganja, smack, nitrazepam tablets, and e-cigarettes. These actions have also impacted drug trafficking networks, which are now under detailed investigation.

Key Operations Across Districts

According to information released by the Police Headquarters, a particularly significant operation took place in Neemuch district, where narcotics worth over ₹1.65 crore were seized. Here, 835 kg 084 grams of dodachura, 3 kg 670 grams of opium, and 220 grams of MD were recovered.

Additionally, a country-made pistol, live cartridges, and two vehicles used in the smuggling were also confiscated. In this case, 14 accused were arrested and action was taken under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. In Rajgarh district, the Kuwar police station seized over 75 kilograms of ganja and a Bolero pickup vehicle used for transport. Two inter-state smugglers from Rajasthan were arrested in this operation, with their estimated assets valued at ₹15.50 lakh.

In Ratlam district, at the Barkhedakalan police station, police seized 147 grams of MDMA, 2 kg 104 grams of dodachura, and a motorcycle, apprehending two accused. The value of the seized assets in this operation was estimated at approximately ₹15.51 lakh.

Major Seizures in Mandsaur and Gwalior

In Mandsaur district, separate operations by the Bhanpura, Sitamau, and Afzalpur police stations led to the seizure of narcotics and assets worth around ₹15.74 lakh. Here, 336 kg 840 grams of dodachura, 230 grams of MDMA, a Swift car, a tractor, a motorcycle, and mobile phones were seized, along with the arrest of 7 accused.

In Gwalior district, the Inderganj police station and Tekanpur outpost police seized 57 kg 273 grams of illegal ganja and a Maruti Alto car, arresting four accused. Approximately ₹10.70 lakh worth of assets were seized in these cases. In Katni district, the Slimnabad and Rangarh Nagar police stations seized 20 kg 548 grams of ganja and 9,000 nitrazepam tablets in two separate operations. Three accused were arrested and assets worth over ₹4.35 lakh were seized in these actions.

In Narsinghpur district, the Themhi police station, under "Operation Eagle Claw," seized 11.30 grams of smack, estimated to be worth ₹1.30 lakh. One accused was arrested in this case.

Operations in Bhopal, Indore, and Other Districts

In the capital Bhopal, the Crime Branch seized 15.030 kilograms of ganja and a motorcycle, arresting one accused, with assets worth approximately ₹3.06 lakh seized. Shahpura police station apprehended one accused with 534 grams of ganja, while Ayodhyanagar police station seized 3 grams of MD drugs, a Maruti Ignis car, and two mobile phones, arresting two accused with estimated assets of ₹6.50 lakh. In another operation, the Crime Branch seized 24.130 kilograms of ganja, a Swift Dzire car, and three mobile phones, arresting two accused.

In Indore district, the Hirannagar police station arrested one accused with 10.28 grams of brown sugar, estimated to be worth ₹1.30 lakh. The Vijay Nagar police station, during vehicle checking, seized an illegal consignment of prohibited e-cigarettes (vapes), apprehending one accused, with materials worth approximately ₹10,000. Khargone district's Barwaha police arrested one accused with 9.71 grams of brown sugar, seizing narcotics worth approximately ₹95,000. Damoh district's Kotwali police arrested one accused with 3 kg 147 grams of illegal ganja, seizing assets worth approximately ₹47,000.

Cases have been registered against all arrested accused under the NDPS Act, and the police are conducting a detailed investigation into the extensive network involved in drug trafficking. This campaign is a significant step towards protecting the youth of the state from addiction and freeing society from this evil.
