Madhya Pradesh Police Intensifies Anti-Drug Campaign with 'Operation Green Strike'

In a significant crackdown on illegal narcotics, the Madhya Pradesh Police have successfully executed a major operation in the Barwani district under the banner of 'Operation Green Strike'. Utilizing drones and extensive foot patrols in challenging hilly and forest terrains, the police confiscated over 27 quintals of illicit cannabis crop. The estimated value of the seized produce is reported to be over Rs 1 crore 15 lakh.

This extensive operation involved 12 teams comprising over 400 police personnel from the Barwani, Khargone, and Khandwa districts. The action was carried out under the guidance of the Inspector General of Police, Rural Zone, Indore; Deputy Inspector General of Police, Nimar Range, Khargone; and Superintendent of Police, Barwani, and was led by the Additional Superintendent of Police and Sub-Divisional Officer of Police, Sendhwa.

Intensive Search Operation in Remote Areas

A special campaign was launched against the illegal cultivation of cannabis in the difficult hilly and forested areas of the Varla police station jurisdiction. The teams conducted a simultaneous, intensive search operation across 19 villages within the Varla police station limits. During this operation, modern drone technology was employed alongside police teams navigating the rugged terrain on foot to thoroughly search suspected locations.

Cannabis Cultivation Found on Forest Land; Forest Department Information Sought

During the operation, five fields with illegal cannabis cultivation were identified in the remote hilly and forest areas of villages including Dokaliyapani, Dhavaliyagir, Bagdari, Takiyapani, and Adnadi. More than 26,000 cannabis plants were seized from these fields, with a total weight exceeding 27 quintals. It was determined that the seized fields are located on forest land.

The police have initiated the process of obtaining information from the Forest Department regarding the leaseholders and occupants of these areas. Legal action will be taken against the concerned individuals based on the information received. The Madhya Pradesh Police are continuously working to effectively dismantle the networks involved in the cultivation and trafficking of illegal narcotics.

Through the coordinated use of drone technology, modern resources, and police forces from various districts in remote and forest areas, such activities are being identified, and stringent legal action is being ensured against those involved.
