Madhya Pradesh Launches 'Srijan Samvad' to Foster Legal Awareness and National Security Among Youth

Statewide Implementation of 'Srijan Samvad' Begins

A significant community policing initiative, 'Srijan Samvad', has been rolled out across Madhya Pradesh with the objective of cultivating legal awareness, national security consciousness, and a sense of social responsibility among students in grades 11 and 12. The program and its accompanying training manual were officially launched by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav in Bhopal on July 14, 2026.

Now, through a collaborative effort involving the Madhya Pradesh Police, the School Education Department, and UNFPA, the first phase of this ambitious campaign commenced statewide on August 5, 2026. The core aim is to educate students about the law, help them understand the police's role and functions, and foster a positive outlook towards cyber security, social security, constitutional values, and responsible citizenship.

Comprehensive Training and Program Content

As per directives from the Community Policing Branch, police officers and teachers across all districts have undergone 'Training of Trainers' (ToT) sessions. They have been trained on the designated textbook and PowerPoint presentations. The UNFPA is playing a crucial guiding role in the execution of this program.

The first phase of implementation, under a pilot project, will involve training students from grades 11 and 12 studying at selected PM Shri, Sandipani, or Excellence schools in district headquarters, in collaboration with District Education Officers. The 'Srijan Samvad' book covers vital topics such as 'Me, My Rights, and My Responsibilities', 'Law, Security, and Justice', 'Citizen Duties', 'The Role of Police', 'Community Safety', and 'Cyber Security'.

These subjects will be presented with practical and interactive information designed to instill a sense of responsible and aware citizenship in students. The initial phase of the campaign began on August 5 in 18 districts, including Barwani, Dindori, Mandsaur, Pandhurna, Shivpuri, Agar-Malwa, Rewa, Sehore, Rajgarh, Sagar, Narmadapuram, Niwari, Chhindwara, Mandla, Khandwa, Shajapur, and Guna. The program started in other districts on August 6. In the metropolitan areas of Indore and Bhopal, the program will be launched in selected schools on August 10 and August 11, 2026, respectively.

Police Station Visits for Practical Experience

An average of 100 to 200 students per school will be trained under this initiative. Workshops will be jointly conducted by trained police officers and teachers, who will provide students with practical insights into crucial areas like law, civic duties, cyber security, women and child safety, and community security.

A key component of the program is the 'Thana Bhraman' (Police Station Visit). Through these visits, students will gain exposure to police station premises, understand police operational procedures, crime control measures, citizen assistance mechanisms, protocols related to women and child safety, investigation processes, and the functioning of the emergency service Dial-112. These visits will offer students firsthand experience of the police system, thereby strengthening trust and participation between the police and the community.

Connecting Community Policing with Public Participation

'Srijan Samvad' is envisioned not merely as a training program but as an innovative effort to connect community policing with public engagement. Its aim is to nurture respect for the law, discipline, social sensitivity, awareness of national security, and the spirit of responsible citizenship among students.

This initiative is expected to inspire them to play an active role in societal and nation-building in the future. The program will be conducted every Saturday across the state, with police officers and teachers delivering training according to the set modules. Additionally, police station visits will be organized in phases. This will further solidify the concept of community policing throughout the state and offer a new dimension to the relationship of trust and participation between youth and the police.

This unique initiative will not only familiarize the future leaders of the country with legal processes but also make them conscious of their duties and rights as responsible citizens. Through 'Srijan Samvad', commitment to constitutional values and alertness towards national security will be promoted among the youth, which is essential for building a strong and secure society. This effort to establish a healthy dialogue between the police and the young generation is poised to bring about a positive transformation in the state.
