Preparations Underway for Kajli Mahotsav

The renowned Kajli Mahotsav, a week-long celebration dedicated to preserving cultural heritage and historical traditions, is set to take place in Mahoba district from August 29 to September 4, 2026. A crucial meeting of the Mahoba Conservation and Development Committee, chaired by District Magistrate Gajal Bhardwaj, was held in the Collectorate auditorium to finalize preparations.

During the meeting, officials from various departments were given essential directives to ensure the grand success of the festival. The District Magistrate emphasized that the event aims not only to protect the historical and cultural background of the district but also to educate local residents about their rich heritage.

Focus on Cultural and Historical Enrichment

Mahoba is historically known as the land of Alha-Udal and boasts numerous historical and cultural landmarks. The festival will feature daily programs designed to inform the public about these heritage sites, fostering greater awareness and appreciation.

Particular attention is being paid to the quality of cultural programs and the presentation of historical heritage. The District Magistrate stressed that performances by various cultural troupes and students from local schools should be highly engaging and aesthetically pleasing. The objective is to blend entertainment with an increase in public knowledge about the district's historical and cultural treasures.

Key directives for the organizing committee include:

• Ensuring all necessary arrangements for the event are in place.
• Submitting a detailed schedule of daily programs for streamlined organization.

This year's Kajli Mahotsav will prominently feature programs based on the Bundeli theme, showcasing the region's folk culture. All essential arrangements will be made at the Alha Manch, and the Public Works Department has been instructed to repair Station Road to facilitate smooth movement during the festival.

Logistics, Security, and Development Exhibition

Emphasis was placed on traffic and security management for the seamless execution of the festival. The Executive Officer of Mahoba Municipality was directed to arrange for the collection of fees for vehicle parking and to prepare for route diversions in advance.

Adequate arrangements for CCTV cameras, barricading, and parking are to be ensured. The electricity department has been tasked with guaranteeing an uninterrupted power supply.

Prioritizing child safety, the District Magistrate specifically highlighted the need for stringent safety measures for children on amusement rides. Furthermore, strict adherence to food quality and safety standards was mandated to prevent any untoward incidents.

A development exhibition will also be organized, aiming to inform the public about various public welfare schemes implemented by the government. This exhibition will also showcase information about Mahoba's historical heritage, connecting visitors with the identity of the region.

Police Cooperation for Security

The Additional Superintendent of Police, Vandana Singh, directed concerned officials to maintain adequate security arrangements during the Kajli Mela. She sought cooperation from all in adhering to security standards during this significant event.

Special security measures will be implemented for rides, and no new traditions will be introduced during this period. She reiterated the importance of strict compliance with all safety parameters.

The meeting was attended by Chief Development Officer Balram Kumar, Additional District Magistrates Indra Nandan Singh (Finance/Revenue), Suryakant Tripathi (Namami Gange), Sukhbeer Singh (Judicial), Deputy Collector Nancy Singh, and other relevant officials and staff. All attendees assured the District Magistrate that necessary actions would be taken in compliance with her directives.

The Kajli Mahotsav, a significant cultural symbol of Mahoba, is poised for a grand celebration this year. Its purpose extends beyond mere entertainment, aiming to instill pride and awareness among people regarding their rich cultural heritage.
