Indian Railways Enhances Services for Raksha Bandhan: Increased Train Frequency Announced

Railways Gears Up for Raksha Bandhan with Special Arrangements and Increased Services

With the auspicious festival of Raksha Bandhan approaching, symbolizing the sacred bond between brothers and sisters, passenger movement across the country is set to surge. To ensure a smooth and safe travel experience amidst this increased demand, Indian Railways has initiated special preparations.

The railway administration has decided to operate special trains on several crucial routes, aiming to alleviate inconvenience for the millions of people returning home for the festival. This move is expected to bring significant relief to passengers grappling with potential travel disruptions during the festive season.

The festival season, particularly the routes connecting major cities and smaller towns in North India, witnesses an unprecedented surge in passenger numbers. In response, railway authorities are prioritizing crowd management and passenger convenience through the introduction of special trains and additional runs of existing services.

Indian Railways has clarified that the schedules of regular trains will remain unchanged; these special arrangements are solely to cater to the additional passenger demand.

Special Superfast Train Between Bhopal and Rewa

To offer enhanced convenience to passengers in Madhya Pradesh during Raksha Bandhan, the railways will operate a superfast special train between Bhopal and Rewa. This special service is scheduled to run on specific dates between August 25, 2026, and August 31, 2026.

The introduction of this train is anticipated to provide considerable relief to passengers traveling from Bhopal, Rewa, and surrounding areas in Madhya Pradesh, which typically experience high passenger traffic during this festive period.

Special Train Service Resumes Between New Delhi and Supaul

Further enhancing passenger convenience, the railways have also reinstated a special train service between New Delhi and Supaul Junction. Train number 04072 New Delhi-Supaul Special is operating from August 6, 2026, to September 30, 2026.

This train will depart daily from New Delhi at 9:35 PM, arriving at Supaul Junction at 6:35 PM the following day. For the return journey, train number 04071 Supaul-New Delhi Special will run from August 8, 2026, to October 2, 2026. It will depart from Supaul Junction at 7:45 AM and reach New Delhi at 3:00 PM the next day. This weekly service ensures accessibility for passengers across a wide region.

Enhanced Security Measures at Stations

Acknowledging the rising passenger numbers and prioritizing safety, the railways have also intensified security arrangements at major stations. Additional security personnel have been deployed at prominent railway stations including New Delhi, Old Delhi, and Bhopal.

Metal detectors, baggage scanners, and surveillance systems have been activated to prevent any untoward incidents. The railway administration will maintain round-the-clock monitoring for effective crowd management.

Special Arrangements for Passenger Assistance

To assist passengers during the peak travel period, the railways have made several additional arrangements. These include the establishment of extra ticket counters, activation of help desks, and the deployment of volunteers known as 'Rail Sevaks'.

These Rail Sevaks will provide passengers with train information, platform guidance, and other necessary assistance. The railways urge passengers to check their train status and timings in advance and arrive at the station a little before their scheduled departure.

Handling the significant passenger load during festivals like Raksha Bandhan presents a major challenge for the railways. Through the operation of special trains and additional arrangements, the primary aim of the railways is to ensure passengers reach their destinations on time and safely.

This will enable millions to celebrate the festival with their families, making their journeys pleasant and memorable.
