The Sarit Expo Centre in Nairobi, Kenya's capital, recently hosted the conclusion of the 'Fourth Afro World Agri-Food Conference, Exhibition and Awards 2026'. This three-day summit focused on promoting bilateral trade and cooperation in agriculture, food processing, and modern agricultural technologies between India and African nations, as well as other countries of the 'Global South'.
A key highlight of the conference was India's substantial delegation; out of a total of 1200 international representatives, 650 delegates were from India alone. The inauguration ceremony saw the participation of India's Deputy High Commissioner, Sushil Prasad.
India's Commitment to Sustainable Development
In his address, Mr. Prasad strongly emphasized India's continuous contribution to the sustainable development and food security of Global South nations. He highlighted that India is not only ensuring its own food security but is also committed to sharing its modern technologies and digital public infrastructure (DPI) with other developing countries.
These shared technologies include climate-resilient farming practices and efficient water management systems. This commitment positions India as a key partner in fostering self-reliance across the Global South.
Strengthening India-Kenya Agricultural Ties
The Indian High Commission in Kenya shared images from the event on 'X' (formerly Twitter), stating, "From Farm to Future, India and Kenya are moving forward together." This partnership is built on strong synergy between governments and the active role of Indian entrepreneurs bringing innovation, technology, and investment to Kenya.
Deputy High Commissioner Sushil Prasad's attendance at the opening ceremony reaffirmed the deepening cooperation between India and Kenya in the agricultural and food processing sectors. The summit highlighted India's emerging role as a reliable and strong 'charioteer' for the Global South, driving economic and technological advancement.
