Hindi Week Culminates with Literary Grandeur

The concluding ceremony of Hindi Week, held at Vidya Bhawan Rural Institute in Udaipur, concluded with literary solemnity on Monday. The event, which took place on September 14, 2026, celebrated the achievements of students and underscored the significance of the Hindi language.

Lessons from Struggle and Language's Evolution

The chief guest, Dr. Bal Gopal Sharma, Additional Chief Block Education Officer, Falasia, shed detailed light on the historical trajectory of the Hindi language, marked by its ups and downs, and its current stature. Sharing personal anecdotes, he likened the language's journey to that of an individual forging a unique identity through life's challenges.

Addressing the youth, Dr. Sharma inspired them to draw lessons from adverse situations rather than being daunted by them, emphasizing that struggle is the key to success and a positive outlook is essential for progress. He also stressed the importance of respecting other languages alongside one's own mother tongue.

Scholars' Contributions to Hindi's Development Honored

In her welcome address, Head of the Hindi Department, Dr. Saraswati Joshi, highlighted the students' exceptional display of creativity and expression throughout the week's diverse activities. She praised their imaginative talents, referencing various competitions held.

Dr. Nirmala Sharma, Assistant Professor, who moderated the ceremony, emphasized the significance of literary creation and continuous reading. She specifically recalled the contributions of historical figures such as Fort William College, Professor Gilchrist, Lallu Lal, Sadhan Mishra, Raja Shivprasad Sitare Hind, and Mahavir Prasad Dwivedi, whose efforts steered the Hindi language in a new direction.

Winners of Various Competitions Recognized

The closing session saw the awarding of prizes to the winners of several competitions. In the extempore speech competition, Lakshita secured first place, Nitya Paliwal second, and Suhani Paliwal third. Kiran Joshi won first prize in the essay writing competition, with Muskan taking second and Nidhi Joshi third.

Gunjan Kunwar Devda and Arjunalal Gameti were jointly declared first winners in the general knowledge competition, followed by Harsh Bhoi in second and Himani Soni in third. Gunjan Kunwar Devda also clinched first place in the poetry recitation competition, with Chetan Singh and Ramsingh securing second and third positions, respectively. All meritorious students received prize money and certificates.

Guidance and Impact of the Event

The entire event was held under the continuous guidance of the college director, Professor Kanika Sharma. This seven-day Hindi Week transcended being a mere program; it provided students a meaningful opportunity to connect language with life and emotions, fostering respect for the language and an understanding of its historical struggles.
