Guna Girls Dominate Divisional Judo Competition

Guna district's young female athletes have showcased exceptional performance at the divisional level judo championship, securing an impressive four gold medals. The competition was held at the Judo Hall of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Sports Complex in the district headquarters, drawing participants from various districts within the Gwalior division.

These outstanding victories have led to the selection of four players from Guna to represent the Gwalior division at the upcoming state-level judo competition. The 14-year-old age category events, in particular, saw a strong showing from the girls representing Guna.

Individual Triumphs and Strong Performances

In the 23 kg category, Lakshmi Yadav clinched the gold medal with a first-place finish. In the 27 kg category, Kalpana Rajput emerged as the winner, while Kajal from Bhind secured the second position in the same weight class. Chandni Kori of Guna won the gold medal in the 32 kg category, with Riya from Bhind taking second place and Vaishnavi from Shivpuri securing third.

The 36 kg category saw Hema earning the gold medal, followed by Arina Khan as the runner-up and Pragya in third place. In the 40 kg category, Neetu Sejeria from Guna finished first, while Kanishka Kushwaha had to settle for the second position. The 44 kg category title was won by Sakshi from Shivpuri.

Preparation for State Level

The competition, which culminated with the announcement of players advancing to the state level, was conducted under the guidance of senior coach Sunil Sharma. Coaches from various districts served as referees, ensuring fair play. The victorious athletes displayed remarkable sportsmanship and skill, impressing both organizers and spectators.

The achievement of these four gold medalists from Guna not only brings pride to the district but also positions them as strong contenders for the state-level championship.
