Sakatpur MRF Inspection Conducted
Guna Collector Kishore Kumar Kanyal conducted an inspection of the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) located in Sakatpur on Monday evening. During the visit, he reviewed the solid waste management arrangements.
The Collector instructed the concerned officials to prepare a detailed action plan for the effective implementation of the Solid Waste Management Rules 2026. The inspection included a close observation of the legacy waste site, composting plant, waste-to-compost area, dumping area, and the waste segregation process.
Assessment of Waste Management Systems
Collector Kanyal noted that while there was no significant legacy waste on the dump site, there was a substantial collection of recently received fresh waste. He also reviewed the material segregation process, the bundling of various types of waste, and the composting arrangements.
Strengthening Solid Waste Management
The Collector emphasized the need to make the solid waste management system in Guna more robust and scientific. He mentioned that successful management systems from other locations are being studied to develop a superior local system. Currently, the MRF operations are being carried out by waste-picking workers, and a contractor has been engaged for its operation.
Action Plan for Scientific Disposal
Collector Kanyal announced that a detailed review meeting would be convened soon to enhance the capacity for material recovery and waste processing. An effective action plan for the scientific and final disposal of waste will be prepared during this meeting.
Furthermore, directives will be issued to prioritize the initiation of source-level segregation of wet and dry waste within the municipal area. The objective is to make the solid waste management system more effective and environmentally friendly. During the inspection, PO DUDA Tej Singh Yadav, City Mission Manager Shivam Dwivedi, the Junior Engineer of the Municipality, and other relevant staff were present.
