Ganga Water Level Decreases, Offering Relief

In Farrukhabad, the water level of the Ganga river has recorded a decrease of 5 centimeters over the past eight hours, offering some respite to residents in low-lying areas. The river's level dropped from 136.85 meters at 8 AM to 136.80 meters by 4 PM.

However, the danger mark at Panchal Ghat Lohia Setu remains at 137.10 meters. This reduction in water level, despite 99297 cusecs of water being released from the Narora Dam, is a significant observation for the administration.

District Magistrate Reviews Flood Preparedness

Meanwhile, District Magistrate Dr. Ankur Lathar conducted an unannounced inspection of the flood disaster control room and revenue archives at the Collectorate premises to review flood preparedness. He issued clear instructions to officials and staff to ensure no negligence in relief and rescue operations.

During the inspection, the District Magistrate meticulously reviewed the communication facilities available at the control room, the maintenance of records, and the coordination arrangements between various departments. He emphasized that every flood-related information must be acted upon immediately and the control room should remain operational round-the-clock.

Directives Issued for Flood Control Measures

The District Magistrate directed officials to regularly compile information related to water levels, relief and rescue operations, and flood-affected areas for a swift response in any emergency. He specifically instructed that if a call is received from a flood victim, contact should be established immediately with the concerned Gram Pradhan, Lekhpal, and Sub-Divisional Magistrate to ensure the affected person is moved to a safe location.

• The Health Department and Animal Husbandry Department have been instructed to organize special camps in flood-affected areas every three days.
• The Basic Education Department is directed to ensure alternative arrangements for children's education in affected villages to prevent disruptions.

Revenue Archives Maintenance Reviewed

The District Magistrate also inspected the revenue archives, where he reviewed the progress of record preservation, maintenance, and digitization. He stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness, regular pest control spraying, and strengthening security within the archives.

“Revenue records are extremely important for both the government and the general citizens, hence any laxity in their maintenance will not be tolerated,” stated Dr. Ankur Lathar.

He also ordered the deployment of two home guards for additional security of the archives. Present during the occasion were Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Arun Kumar Singh, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sadar Sanjay Kumar, Nayab Nazir Mahendra Kumar, and other officials.
