Child Marriage Prevention and Child Labor Campaigns Take Center Stage

A crucial meeting of the District Child Welfare and Protection Committee and the District Task Force under the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Bal Seva Yojana was held at the Collectorate Auditorium in Fatehgarh, Farrukhabad, chaired by District Magistrate Dr. Ankur Lathar. Detailed discussions took place on critical issues such as the prevention of child marriages, identification of child laborers, and driving by minors, with necessary directives being issued.

Campaigns to Combat Child Labor Mandated

The District Magistrate instructed the Assistant Labor Commissioner to ensure continuous campaigns by the labor department to check for the presence of child laborers in the district's hotels, dhabas, and factories. He stressed that child laborers must not be exploited under any circumstances, and their childhood must remain secure.

Strict Action Against Underage Driving Ordered

During the meeting, the District Magistrate directed the ARTO to conduct rigorous and intensive campaigns to ensure immediate legal action against any child or adolescent under 18 years of age found driving scooters, any type of vehicle, or even e-rickshaws. This move is a significant initiative towards preventing accidents caused by underage driving on the roads.

Awareness and Action for Child Marriage Prevention

The District Inspector of Schools and the District Basic Education Officer were instructed to organize a seminar every month in every school regarding the prevention of child marriages. The aim of these seminars will be to educate children about the ill effects of child marriage. It was also clarified in the meeting that any incident of child marriage can be reported to the Child Helpline number 1098, the Emergency number 112, or the departmental CUG number 7518024057.

Expedited Verification for Chief Minister's Child Service Scheme Applications

The meeting also emphasized the need for the swift verification of all pending applications under the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister's Child Service Scheme (General). The District Magistrate directed the Sub-Divisional Magistrates and Block Development Officers to verify these applications and present them to the committee as soon as possible, ensuring timely assistance to eligible beneficiaries.

Senior officials present at the occasion included Chief Development Officer Arvind Kumar Gaud, Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr. Deepak Kataria, CO Ajay Verma, District Probation Officer Anil Chandra, District Program Officer, ARTO, Assistant Labor Commissioner, all Block Development Officers, Protection Officers, and Legal-cum-Probation Officers.
