Farrukhabad Hosts Family Planning Camps: 38 Women Undergo Successful Sterilization

Successful Family Planning Camps Held in Farrukhabad

Under the National Health Mission, three-day special family planning (female sterilization/tubal ligation) camps were successfully organized in the Farrukhabad district from August 3rd to 5th, 2026. These camps aimed to promote population stabilization, safe motherhood, and healthy families.

A total of 38 women underwent successful sterilization procedures performed by specialist doctors after thorough medical examinations and necessary laboratory tests. The operations were carried out at Community Health Centre (CHC) Kaimganj (14 women), CHC Kamalganj (14 women), and CHC Barau (10 women).

Emphasis on Family Planning Services

The camps, conducted under the direction of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Anand Upadhyay, highlighted the significance of family planning services. Dr. Upadhyay stated that family planning is not merely a means of population control but forms the foundation for maternal and child health protection, family economic stability, and a bright future for children.

Dr. Upadhyay emphasized that family planning is not just about population control, but it is the cornerstone for protecting maternal and child health, ensuring family economic stability, and securing a bright future for children.

He further informed that the state government and the health department are providing all family planning-related services completely free of charge. Safe and quality services are ensured under the supervision of trained specialist doctors to prevent any inconvenience to the beneficiaries.

Awareness and Service Expansion

CMO Dr. Anand Upadhyay urged all eligible couples to choose temporary and permanent family planning methods according to their needs and to avail of these services fully. He also called upon ASHA workers, ANMs, and other health workers to raise awareness about family planning among eligible couples in their respective areas and to connect them with the various services provided by the department.

During the camps, the respective in-charge medical officers, deputy chief medical officers, and officials from the district program management team conducted thorough inspections of the arrangements. They also observed the quality of health services being provided to the beneficiaries. Officials praised the efforts of the doctors and health workers and issued directives to continue providing similar quality and public welfare services in the future.

Safe and Quality Operations

The female sterilization operations were conducted in full compliance with prescribed medical standards and infection control protocols. Key medical personnel involved in successful operations included Dr. Krishna Bose (DGO). During these procedures, Dr. Arun Yadav (Anesthetist), Dr. Rohit Tiwari (Surgeon), Dr. Mamta Arun (DGO), and Dr. Madhu Agarwal (DGO), along with OT Technician Narendra, Counselor Sunita, and Staff Nurses Rita and Meera, played crucial roles.

Doctors, nursing, and paramedical staff from the District Women's Hospital and related health centers also provided their support. The safety of all beneficiaries was prioritized, with each operation performed with extreme care and adherence to quality standards.

Comprehensive Health Services Provided

All participating women received comprehensive health services, including registration, detailed medical examinations, blood pressure checks, necessary laboratory investigations, expert counseling, and all essential pre- and post-operative care. Following the operations, beneficiaries were kept under medical supervision in the recovery room, where they received necessary medications, nutritional advice, and health counseling.

The health department also provided detailed information to the women and their families about various family planning methods. They were educated on how a small, planned family guarantees better maternal and child health, as well as significantly contributes to the family's economic, social, and educational progress. Experts stressed that maintaining an adequate interval between two children reduces maternal and infant mortality rates and improves children's physical and mental development.

Various Family Planning Options

During the program, eligible couples were informed about temporary family planning methods such as contraceptive pills, Copper-T, Antara injections, condoms, and other available services. Comprehensive information was also provided regarding the safety, effectiveness, and utility of female and male sterilization, encouraging wider adoption of these services.

The health department further announced that family planning services are regularly available at all community health centers, primary health centers, and sub-health centers in the district. Here, trained doctors and health workers provide free counseling, necessary medicines, and quality services.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anand Upadhyay highly commended the efforts of all doctors, paramedical staff, nursing personnel, and health department officials and employees for the successful organization of the three special camps. He stated that such special camps will continue to be organized regularly in the future to further enhance the effectiveness of the family planning program in the district.

At the conclusion of the program, the health of all beneficiaries was reviewed again, and they were informed about post-operative precautions and necessary health advice. The beneficiaries expressed deep satisfaction with the free and quality services provided by the health department and conveyed their gratitude to the doctors and health workers.
