District-Level Review Meeting Held in Farrukhabad to Curb Human Trafficking

Farrukhabad | July 31, 2026 - A significant district-level review committee meeting was convened on Friday at the Vikas Bhawan auditorium in Farrukhabad. The primary objective of this meeting was to ensure effective monitoring and prevention of human trafficking, with a particular focus on child trafficking.

Presided over by the Chief Development Officer, the meeting commenced at 1 PM and was attended by officials from various departments. Key attendees included the Senior Prosecution Officer, District Probation Officer, ARTO Roadways, Assistant Labour Commissioner, District Inspector of Schools, and representatives from other relevant departments.

The central agenda of the meeting revolved around discussing the steps to be taken to prevent human trafficking, especially the trafficking of children. A thorough deliberation took place on this critical issue, outlining future action plans.

Steps to Prevent Trafficking Emphasized

Addressing the assembled officials, the Chief Development Officer stressed the immediate need to increase the number of rescue and rehabilitation campaigns. He emphasized that a higher frequency of such operations is essential to provide timely assistance to victims of trafficking.

Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of identifying vulnerable areas and directed that more effective actions be implemented in these regions. Special surveillance and strict security measures should be enforced in areas with a high probability of trafficking.

Additionally, the Labour Department was instructed to conduct regular raids on dhabas, hotels, and shops in collaboration with the Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) team and the District Probation Officer. These locations are often used to hold child laborers or bonded laborers, necessitating special attention.

It was underscored that these raids should be conducted in a well-planned manner to achieve maximum effective results, rather than being haphazard.

Special Focus on Transportation Modes

The meeting also directed the ARTO Roadways to launch special campaigns in this regard. It was observed that children are often brought from other districts via buses and subjected to various inhumane activities. To curb this criminal trend, all buses must undergo regular and thorough checks, with particular attention paid to buses carrying groups of children.

Such checks can effectively control incidents of human trafficking and protect innocent children. The transport department was also instructed to immediately report any suspicious activity, prioritizing passenger safety. Bus drivers and conductors should be made aware of the signs of human trafficking and encouraged to report such cases to the relevant authorities without delay.

Emphasis on Mutual Coordination

At the conclusion of the meeting, all relevant officials were expected to establish effective coordination with each other. It was stressed that a serious issue like human trafficking, particularly child trafficking, cannot be tackled by any single department alone.

All departments must work together as a unified front. The officials pledged to collaborate and take concrete, effective steps to prevent child trafficking. This meeting is considered a significant stride in strengthening the fight against human trafficking in the district.
