Tulsipur Demands Maternal and Child Hospital; Deputy Chief Minister Gives Positive Assurance

Balrampur, August 5, 2026 | The Cliff News | A delegation, led by local MLA Kailashnath Shukla, met with the Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh to press for the establishment of a Maternity and Child Hospital (Women's Hospital) in the town of Tulsipur, Balrampur district.

The delegation presented a memorandum to the Deputy Chief Minister, urging the establishment of this crucial health facility on approximately 25 bighas of government land within the old government hospital premises in the town. The memorandum highlights that the old hospital complex in Tulsipur has been non-functional for years.

Currently, the entire district only has a women's hospital at the district headquarters for maternal and child health services. This forces thousands of women from Tulsipur and surrounding areas, spanning about 50 kilometers, to travel long distances for delivery and treatment. This often leads to critical difficulties for women and newborns due to delayed medical attention, a matter of significant concern.

Need for Expansion of Health Services

Considering public interest, the delegation requested the necessary administrative approval for establishing the women's hospital on the government land of the old hospital complex. They believe this will provide quality health facilities to women in the region at a local level and help reduce maternal and infant mortality rates.

In response, a letter from the Deputy Chief Minister's office stated that the matter has been forwarded to the concerned department for necessary examination and action as per rules. This assurance has sparked hope among the residents that the government will soon make a positive decision on this public welfare demand.

Dilip Kumar Gupta, District General Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Udyog Vyapar Pratinidhi Mandal, expressed gratitude to MLA Kailashnath Shukla and the Deputy Chief Minister for seriously considering this important public issue and taking positive steps. He stated that the establishment of a women's hospital in Tulsipur would provide significant relief not only to the town but also to millions of women and newborns in the surrounding rural areas.

Furthermore, he added that it would provide new strength to the region's healthcare system.
