Damoh Health Services Reviewed: Collector Orders Assurance of Medicine Availability

The Damoh district administration convened a crucial review meeting of the District Health and Nutrition Committee, chaired by Collector Pratap Narayan Yadav, to strengthen health services in the district. The meeting, held in the Collectorate auditorium, focused on a comprehensive review of the progress of activities related to maternal and child health programs, immunization, malaria, tuberculosis, the 'Dastak Abhiyan', non-communicable diseases, and the provision of better health facilities across various health institutions.

The Collector particularly stressed the immediate availability of medicines in all health institutions as per their requirements. During the meeting, Mr. Yadav also issued directives for 100% card issuance under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana for all senior citizens above 70 years of age. He emphasized the effective implementation of this scheme to ensure that eligible citizens benefit from health services.

The meeting was attended by Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Rakesh Rai, Civil Surgeon Dr. Prahlad Patel, District Health Officer Dr. Rita Chatterjee, along with all District Program Officers and Block Medical Officers.

Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition Given Special Focus

District Health Officer Dr. Rita Chatterjee presented detailed information on the maternal and child health status in the district. She reported that zero MDR (Multi-Drug Resistant) cases were reported in July, with a total of 5 MDR cases recorded throughout the year. Collector Mr. Yadav commended the improvement in registration, management of moderate and severe cases, and PIH (Pregnancy-Induced Hypertension) compared to previous months, praising the department's efforts.

Additionally, discussions were held on 'Suman Panchayat', an ambitious maternal and child health initiative, and officials were directed to make the necessary efforts to achieve the set targets as per the government's vision.

Significant Increase in Vaccination Coverage

District Vaccination Officer Dr. Vikrant Chauhan reported that the district's full immunization coverage in the HMIS (Health Management Information System) has increased from 79% to 88%. This was acknowledged as a significant achievement by the officials present. The Collector directed them to maintain this progress and continue efforts to achieve the target of 100% vaccination, emphasizing that no child should be left unvaccinated.
