Damoh Health Department Sees Significant Improvement in Rankings, Jumping from 51st to 28th Place

Significant Improvement in District Health Rankings

Damoh district has registered a significant improvement in the performance of its health services. As a result of continuous reviews by the District Health Committee and active monitoring by ground-level officers and health workers, the health department has strengthened its position, jumping from 51st to 28th place in the state-level rankings.

Collector Attributes Progress to Regular Reviews and Field Visits

Collector Pratap Narayan Yadav attributed this progress to regular point-wise reviews and field visits. He highlighted the advancement in key health indicators, stating that the registration percentage for pregnant women has risen from 65 percent in April to 81 percent. Similarly, the proper management of pregnant women has seen an increase from 75 percent to 92 percent.

The district's commitment to maternal health is further demonstrated by the improvement in the care of pregnant women suffering from hypertension, which has risen from 77 percent to 95 percent.

Notable Progress in TB Screening and Treatment

Damoh has also made commendable progress towards the elimination of Tuberculosis (TB). According to the Collector, the percentage of TB screening has increased from 52 percent to 61 percent. Achievements in X-ray testing for TB patients have reached 92 percent, up from 44 percent.

Furthermore, the coverage of contact tracing and TPT (TB Preventive Therapy) for TB patients has expanded from 31 percent to 55 percent, indicating a rapid acceleration in TB detection and prevention efforts.

Increased Vaccination Coverage

The district has also witnessed an improvement in vaccination coverage, which has now increased to 88 percent from the previous 79 percent. Collector Shri Yadav credited this progress to consistent reviews, effective monitoring, and concrete actions taken at the field level.

He mentioned that in certain specific health indicators, the district has even reached the 18th position in the state, demonstrating that significant changes are possible with a well-planned approach and relentless efforts. Shri Yadav appealed to the general public to take maximum advantage of the health schemes operated by the government, emphasizing the importance of vaccination to protect children from various serious diseases.

This improvement marks a crucial step towards strengthening the district's health system and providing better health services to its citizens.
